Gerard whately is the most incapable and ignorant commentator I've ever had the misfortune of listening to. His entire effort is focused on talking about vfl and how the conversation can be moved in that direction. I switch off for 20 minutes when he arrives on air
It's why I asked if Maxwell was a league fan to balance out the football code references.

"The 43-year-old had been leading ABC Grandstand’s radio coverage of the recent Ashes series, but revealed on Monday that he would leave the station immediately and wouldn’t call the fifth Test. He had hoped to call the New Year’s Test to farewell listeners but said that “circumstances have changed and that won’t be the case”."

Sounds like he won't even be calling the 5th test.

Would imagine that Kelli Underwood will take over as Offsiders host.

Just one useless Victorian replacing another.

Twatley must have p*ssed in someone’s punch bowl for this too happen(not too mention the sudden departure).
Mind you, as a Victorianian, he would probably see calling for a local radio station as a bigger gig given their inward looking ‘Melbourne is the sporting capital....’ rubbish.

One of these things is not like the others:

Absolutely no rugby league on ABC News NSW this evening. They covered numerous sports but no rugby league. These rugby league clubs are culturally significant. The wider public would like to know simple little things like preseason trial results. Not much to ask for and easily done! Their is obviously an anti rugby league element making decisions to ignore rugby league just like happened during the recent world cup.

Good point! If not the trials then at least the World Club Challenge should have been covered where the world champion club side was crowned for another 12 months, add to that the other two visiting English sides. If it were any other sport they would have raved about how globally significant the cross-competition matches are.

Two nights ago on the 7pm Sydney news they had two AFL stories, one on some clown from GWS who has a shady history being offered a new contract and another "news" story on there not being enough women coaches in AFLW.

Listening to the 6am news yesterday on ABC Sydney, the only sports story was an AFL trial with nothing on the Dragons v Broncos match. Maybe this #theirabc and AFL conspiracy is real after all.
