SYDNEY, Australia– August 23, 2016 – Our Club is proud to collaborate with DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio for our upcoming Round 25 clash against the Sydney Roosters at Southern Cross Group Stadium.

The promotion celebrates the upcoming release of the highly-anticipated Battlefield:tm: 1 Open Betaon Xbox One, Origin:tm: for PC and PlayStation:registered:4 on September 1st.

This major activation will see our NRL squad take to the field in a uniquely designed jersey, featuring key elements of the upcoming Battlefield 1 game which will bring to life the true spirit of the collaboration; Welcome to our Battlefield’.

In what is an exciting inclusion to an already thrilling game day at Southern Cross Group Stadium, the new game from DICE will also be brought to life through a series of off-field activations set for Members and fans to immerse themselves in the dawn of all-out war.

There will be a bespoke Battlefield 1 promotional team poster giveaway, a Battlefield 1 photo booth experience and the opportunity to win a Battlefield 1 Limited Edition Sharks Jersey, Xbox One Console, a copy of Battlefield 1* on the Xbox One and a Battlefield 1 merchandise pack.

Cronulla Sharks Group CEO Lyall Gorman said, “The collaboration with Electronic Arts was an innovative and exciting one and was an avenue the Club would continue to pursue into the future.

We’re extremely pleased to collaborate with an internationally-recognised and respected brand such as Electronic Arts,” said Gorman. “As a Club, we’re always seeking to push the boundaries in everything we do and we see parallels with our fans and EA’s – so this collaboration was a natural fit.”

“We’re excited to bring Battlefield 1 to life at Southern Cross Group Stadium. Unique jerseys and off field activations are part of what continues to make our game day experience sit at the top of the NRL from an engagement and fan experience perspective. Our Round 25 clash against the Roosters will continue this trend as we join with EA we take Sharks 360, a collaborative, creative and innovative game day promotion, to the next level.”

Simon Smith-Wright, Marketing Director of Electronic Arts, Asia Pacific adds, “We are thrilled to join the Sharks on the field, as they battle the Roosters on August 27.”

How embarrassing. Oh well, hope we're getting a fair bit of coin out of it.

EDIT - on second thought, maybe its a good distraction from the footy. Plug in the X-boxes at half time if its going to sht.

The first 100 people through the gate get an Xbox. Next 1000 get a copy of the game, next 10,000 get a sticker

For the club to be involved with EA Games is absolutely massive. EA games are one of if not the biggest video game developers in the world.

Battlefield games are released every 2 or 3 years and have a worldwide following as one of the best FPS shooters available.

EA are massive, do not underestimate how good this is for the club.

How good is it?

It's not an ongoing sponsorship. If the jersey is to be on sale there has been no marketing, How will EA be promoting the Sharks? Is our logo going on this game for worldwide distribution? Is the club getting a cut of the game sales which will undoubtedly be huge?

I'm not that excited by it. Gimmicky

This was all part of the plan. Play shit for a few weeks, put on a gimmick jersey and then win. Win on the battlefield. Star wipe, smoke machine, emerge as champions. All thanks to EA.

Brilliant Lyle, simply brilliant

What a coup. Two years ago we were linked to drug abuse now we are linked to a cutting edge global creative digital game launch. Not bad Lyall. Any eyes on what the jersey looks like?
