A Descent Halfback.
A Descent Five Eight.
A Mobile Set of Forwards who can Dominate the play the ball.
A Creative Dummy half, to catch out Tired Forwards.
A Strong 2nd Line of Defense.
A Great Long Kicking game
A Great Grubber kick.
Lots of last tackle Options.
Not many injuries to key players duiring the season.
-------------------------------
The Dragons Fall short in some Key areas in the Game.
When trent is out, we lack a Good Five Eight.
When Ryles, Thommo, Bails dont play, we Lose Domination in the Ruck.
We have the worst dummy half in the game in terms of creativity.
Our last tackle options were ok at the middle of the year, but fell away as the team was unstable, and players constantly playing in new Vital, Ball playing positions.
Injuries.
THe dragons need to work on many things in the offseason. THe above would be a start.
To make a great winning side you need, the whole team working in the same direction. THe basics of the game need to be 2nd nature.
For Eg:
A)how to land in a tackle, in order to get a quick play the ball.
b)how to tackle in order to slow down the play the ball, as Legally as possible.
C) I could go on all day, but its the simple things in the game, that need addressing. A Quick play the ball, always gets you easy metres, and a chance at breaking the line, as it's already in tatters. Its the most important part of todays game.
RUCK DOMINATION.
Creativity.
As good as Pig is, he is by no means creative. He has put maybe 3 blokes thru a hole in his time at the dragons from dummy half.
He has the power, but needs the vision. Mark always attracts defenders. This means, someone is free. Mark needs to add a new dimension to his game. It's called Offloading BEFORE he hits the line to a runner. On many many occasions this year, you would see Pig run. you would see a hole open up on his blind side, or the open. Yet Mark being " Nr Tunnel Vision ". Tries to run over the bloke ???
We need a Bloke who can Use the ball wiser, and make yards out of Dummy half.
This IMHO is a start for the offseason.
