hmm i wouldn't be moving keary or reyno, but thinking out of the box... has cody ever played dummy half??? with luke not at souths next year, if mcinnes doesnt work out at dummy half then maybe cody could have a shot at the position...

I like your suggestion!

It could possibly happen.

If anything we'd see Carter on the bench and Cam starting.

We could also have Cam at 9, Carter at 13 and then have a three way rotation where Cam goes on the bench, Carter goes to 9 and a forward comes on to play lock.

You say having Sutto back at 5/8 in the finals means our chances will be severely reduced.

Well if Cody plays first grade at 5/8 in the finals then we have zero chance. Madge won't put an unproven rookie into the finals cauldron for obvious reasons.

When Cody gets a chance it won't be due to Reynolds being dropped, this just won't happen. Reynolds is a brilliant halfback.

The best chance Cody has is getting time at hooker next year.

At this stage,I agree, Cody would have zero chance--this being due to an opportunity lost earlier in the season when he maybe could have been tried.

Who knows---in good company he may have proven a massive revelation!!

That chance has been missed though.

I know.

Just thinking outside the box.

That's possible, Gray's injury might be a concern to Madge.

Yep it is interesting that's for sure.

Goodwin on the wing struggles to catch bombs.

If Auva'a practices and goes well under the high ball he will be fine on the wing.

Anyone know if Auva'a has ever played on the wing for the Sharks/Melbourne NSW Cup team whom he played with before coming to Souths????

Well Gray has a hip flexor injury which I guess is painful and makes him struggle with movement/running.

Gray also has flare ups with his bad knee as we know.

A Goodwin/Auva'a combo I would be happy with!

The North Sydney Bears have defeated the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 36-16 to provisionally elevate themselves into the NSW Cup top eight on 22 competition points.

After going to the break down by 12-6, the Bears put on a controlled second half showing to signal their intentions for the rest of the NSW Cup competition.

After an opening 15 minutes that saw the Bears keep the Dogs well inside their own side of half-way, Canterbury replacement George Tsikrikas barged his way over the line by spinning out of a tackle to plant the ball down. Chase Stanley added the extras to make it 6-0.

Not long afterwards, a fruitless attacking raid from the Bears saw the men in red and black turn the ball over on the last tackle. But with the Dogs attempting to get out of their own red-zone, the Bears showed brilliant defence to push the blue and whites back into the in-goal to force a line drop-out.

The play would prove vital two tackles later when Darren Nicholls kicked to the corner of Bernard Gregorius – the unmarked winger plucking the ball out of the air to score an amazing try. Nicholls added the extras just inside touch to level the scores at six apiece.

The Bulldogs would hit back though through Levi Dodd – the back-rower benefitting from standing out in the centres to post points for his side. Stanley made no mistake with the touch-line conversion to make the score 12-6 to take the teams to the sheds.

On the resumption, the Bears scored another brilliant try, this time through Latrell Schaumkel – the replacement beating three Bulldogs defenders before stretching out his arm to score. Nicholls converted to again equalise at 12 apiece.

Schaumkel was at it again two minutes later when a mistake from the Bulldogs gifted the Bears possession in good field position – Schaumkel finishing off a back-line movement to take the lead for the first time in the match. Nicholls was on song yet again with the boot from the sideline to make it 18-12.

Schaumkel incredibly made it three in a row from the very next set when he took a brilliant short-side ball from Paul Carter, before racing the remaining 40 metres to extend North Sydney’s lead. Skipper Nicholls was having a brilliant day with the boot, adding the extras again to make it 24-12 after 53 minutes.

One set later, Norths attacked the left hand side yet again and came up with points through Kirisome Auva’a – the Rabbitoh bettering the position slightly before planting the ball down. Nicholls made it five from five to make it 30-12.

Stanley got his side back on the board when he dived over in the corner after conceding 22 un-answered points to make it 32-16.

With the clock winding down, Nicholls put the final nail into the Bulldogs coffin when Darren Nicholls crossed behind the posts to clinch victory. Nicholls added the final points to take the final score to 36-16.

Bears 36 (Bernard Gregorius, Latrell Schaumkel 3, Kirisome Auva’a, Darren Nicholls tries; Darren Nicholls 6 goals)

Bulldogs 16 (George Tsikrikas, Levi Dodd, Chase Stanley, tries; Chase Stanley 2 goals)

yeah he scored a nice one against the cutters too.
from my memory he isn't very big. Probably something that won't help him push for selection.

North Sydney Bears 32 (K Auva'a 2, C Walker 2, J Reddy, E Murphy tries; D Nicholls 4 goals) bt Warriors 22 (D Bhana, K Hurrell, S Rapira, T Aoake tries; M Lino 3 goals)

SUMMARY: North Sydney Bears continue their exceptional run of form with a convincing 32-22 win over the New Zealand Warriors. Kirisome Auva’a and Cody Walker piled on the points early with two tries each, before an inspirational Bears defensive effort in the final 20 minutes denied a potential Warriors comeback.

Really hope to see Auva'a named back in firsts this week. Our backline just looks so much more solid with him in it. When Gray made that half break on Friday night you just knew he'd get run down.. but if it was Auva'a, with his fend it could have been anything. Knows how to defend, backs himself for the line but he's no hog, will setup great tries for his winger too.
