Blacklock and Gasnier ruled out of Broncos match

Dragons centre Mark Gasnier and winger Nathan Blacklock were last night ruled out of Friday’s clash with the Broncos in Brisbane after failing to complete training.

Gasnier (quadriceps) and Blacklock (knee) were earlier named to play in the final regular season match for 2004, but they were unable to train through their injuries this afternoon.

Gasnier will be replaced by John Wilshere and Blacklock will be replaced by Hassan Saleh.

Let's look at it realistically; what's the point of further risking players on a dead rub? Pride? Honour? While those ideals are important, as Shakespeare wrote "when honour doth prick thee, will it staunch the flow of blood from a wound?"
I just hope that consistent performers like Coops, Hornby (...I can't think of ant others who aren't already walking wounded) don't get injured at the bloody sand pit.
