Its booming alright I have relatives that live in Patra every second shop front is for lease unemployment is high , youth unemployment is over 40% yep austerity has worked wonders. The city has also got a huge problem with Pakistanis and Afghani refugees fight for a piece of beach front property, yep the European Union has really helped Greece a lot the, Now you have the Germans who actually welcomed refugees with welcome arms want to sent them back to Greece again. Like former Greek finance minister said that the EU is like Hotel California you can check out any time you like but you can never leave lol

The EU is almost as useless and irrelevant as the UN

Eventually Germany will get sick of paying everyone else's bills and it will all come down like a house of cards

Or they’ll just hold so much financial power over the rest of Europe that they’ll annex the entire thing into another German empire.

    3rd times a charm, surely

    What is this nonsense?

The EU is a Utopia! Or a EUtopia, even.

I know this because the BBC told me so.

The problem with the EU (well one of many) is that they didnt go all in. If the USA sent a bill to I dont know Mississippi every year because they put less in than they received the states would fracture pretty quickly. The point of a union of states is that the strong have to support the weak. That is just a fact. We cant go crying about how useless Tasmania is.

The EU was more worried about German bankers than they were about member states and really how can such a system survive.

Also Brexit was the first sign that liberalism was failing and that the left needed to abandon it quick smart. Of course I dont mean we should start wanting to send gays to death camps or anything. Just that we need to focus on the working class that has been completely f**ked before they vote in fascists who will send gays to death camps. There is a lot worse than Donald Trump out there.

Everyone always focuses on the holocaust, no one ever mentions Adolf’s liberal unisex bathroom policies

The problem is that it is too easy for the weak to rely on being supported by the strong

Which is why this sort of collective utopia just doesn't work

If they actually sold the EU idea as giving up national sovereignty and becoming one giant country ala the USA no nation’s populace would have supported it in the first place.

Pffft but the Greeks want to retire at 40!

And I can't imagine why anyone in Great Britain would mind aiding in paying for that early retirement.

Imagine being in a Union with a few countries whose inhabitants want to retire before they turn 50. What could go wrong?

Name calling does not enhance your argument Pete

And comparing the disparities between Australia's states to those of the EU member countries is a bit of a stretch

If you want to be in a gigantic state to be able to compete with the United States with population then you are going to have to cop the less productive states. It is the only way the system works especially with a shared currency

    Ah yes, #meinzwei

I believe Weinstein’s great grandfather actually ran that art school and blackballed Hitler’s budding career as a painter after he refused to take a seat on the plaster casting couch
