Can Mary replicate what Hardwick did at the Tigers

It's virtually impossible to make that comparison because the nature of AFL and NRL is so different.
There is basically no such thing as a favourite in the AFL. A team (let's say Geelong) could be having a dream run of 7 wins in a row, then all of a sudden get beaten by the Gold Coast Suns. It's all about who shows up on the day.
Take the Swans this year, favourites to win the comp... Then get done by 50 in a semi.

Richmond had one of those special years, it doesn't work that way in the NRL.

If Graham and Hunt are the reason people think we might compete for the title next year then why aren't they and their previous teams playing today?
2 players alone will make no difference, we need much more than that to get close to a title.
Already people overrating the 2018 squad as they did this year, last year and so on and also overrating the ability of Mc Fookknuckle.
If things remain similar to last year with just Hunt and Graham coming in we will be lucky to get 9th.
Hey OT your logic is flawed regarding Hunt's and Graham's team's not playing, however, we certainly need more speed, bench management and tactics (like more than just plan A) to go significantly better.

The potential for Mary to get us where we could be really doesn't appear to exist.

In 2016 Damien Hardwick was under pressure to get the axe. The tigers recruited some good solid players and added coaching support to help the head coach. The result a premiership in 2017.
Can the dragons emulate this in 2018 and win the NRL premiership. We have added Hunt and Graham brought over an unknown assistant coach from the UK, Richard Haigh is this the added support Mary needs to bring the premiership back to the mighty Dragons?
No . Hardwick is smart, articulate, can coach and was part of the coaching staff at two previous premiership winning club's. ps .Can we piss off Dean young whilst we are at it . Please !!!

Dimma probably should've got punted from Richmond last year. However, they backed him and after a fair amount of "honest" soul searching (meaning he actually DID it rather than just saying he did) he came to the conclusion things weren't working and he needed to change.

If history is a predictor of future behaviour, there's no chance in hell Mary can replicate Dimma as he hasn't shown anything to suggest he is prepared to change things up.

Guys, Hardwicks team at least get a point every time they just miss the main posts.

But we get nothing when we are tackled 2 metres out .....AND we get 4 points against us every time the opposition score a try from a kick.

AND Hardwicks team are allowed to pass the ball forward.

It's really not fair.

If our recruits were the entire Qld backline you might give them the chance to get over the major handicap in the coaches box, but alas, this is not the case. As it stands, Hunt and Graham are good additions but with Mary in charge, it still only makes us fringe top 8. Get rid of him and put a decent coach in charge and top 4 is not outside the realm of possibility and anything is possible from there.

Will you revisit that if Cows win today?

Weird things happen all the time
Balmain beat south's in 69 GF, massive underdogs.
Newcastle beat the unbackable Eels in a big GF upset around 10 years ago
Manly beat storm 40-0 in a GF.
Panthers beat the roosters in a big GF upset around 2003

Not sure how my logic is flawed.
Many people in here saying they will make the difference especially in leadership.
Hunt had a way better 3/4 line at Bronco's and the forward pack not too shabby.
Graham had a more than reasonable pack at the Dogs.
There personality and skill set alone were not good enough to make the difference there.
How will that be that case with our lot especially with a pretty ordinary backline and a non event coach?

It will help us be better, not be in the top 3 or 4.

But I believe it will help us get us to the top 6.

That's a start.

Anything is possible, at the end of the day the players themselves need to find that desire to win a GF, super coach job is to channel this desire week in week out, so far super coach is blinded by his ego and limited intellect therefore has fail consecutively, super coach needs to hail mary very very fast!

Seriously we need sports psychologist to work with the team during off season - we lost at least 4 games that we should have held onto win - our mental toughness is very lacking in closing our games or getting up to games we were slotted to win comfortably..

Mary is the one who needs the sports psychologist.

I real Dragons success story.

Straight Shooter
Just because I said that I think we will make the eight doesn't mean that I qualify a top eight finish as a success story.
We won't win the comp because we lack the outside backs but we will make the 8 on the back of our forwards and halves. Speculation ofcourse. Thats my opinion and no that wouldn't be a "real dragons success story".

Just because a player's team doesn't make a gf hardly determines they cannot the next year in another team. Is it likely with Mary at the helm? No.

I've never been shot, doesn't mean I never will be, etc...
