AFL didn't even show their reggies game in Sydney from memory

Cheers,

Good question... are they getting this in Melbourne?

btw, in the mid-1990s, Channel 9 had non-stop footage of every grand final leading up the big match. It took all night and all day and was bloody fantastic.

Glad Australia is getting great coverage while New Zealand gets just about nothing. Our Grand Final coverage starts at 9pm and its just 2 hours and 10 minutes long. All the while during the day sky tv will be playing live major league baseball, golf, moto gp live and more golf which will attract about 10 viewers for the whole day. Oh but silly me, we get a replay of the Warriors getting beaten up in last years Grand Final  .

Ch 9 will show the GF in VIC I guess at 6:30pm after the news. I dont think its ever been live in SA and WA. Could be wrong though. Last year it wasnt. Might also be wrong, but I believe NINE didnt want to show it live here in VIC last year. They did and 500,000+ watched it. Idiots.

I remember the glory days of the early 90's onwards. Every semi-final live on Sat. and Sun. GF coverage starting in the mornings with the early games. Origins live or 8:30pm. Then RL makes inroads down here with Test matches, Origins and the inclusion of Storm and RL coverage dissapears.

Yes, they certainly were the days!

Its not great coverage weasel when you consider its pay tv, if you can't afford it then you get bugger all. Wait up until 11pm to watch the Grand Final delayed.

Just had a look at the Melbourne telecast times and I have to say I'm pretty much disgusted for our southern brothers and sisters.

Starts off well enough:

12pm - 1pm
Boots 'N' All - Grand Final Edition

and then....
1pm - 3pm
Courage of Lassie

Lassie is a young pup who is accidentally shot and then rescued by a teenager who nurses her back to health. Soon, another accident occurs, separating Lassie and her new master, when a soldier captures her, training her to fight in World War II.

3pm-5pm
Max Is Missing

Twelve-year-old Max is not happy about being stuck on an expedition to the Incan ruins with his divorced Dad and new girlfriend. But when a dying man gives Max a priceless Incan artefact to hide from two thugs, the trip turns into a wild adventure.

5pm - 6pm
Shark Tracker

In a world first, Australian marine biologist Richard Fitzpatrick attached a satellite transmitter to the dorsal fin of a 3.2 metre female Tiger Shark off Raine Island, Great Barrier Reef. Little is known about the migrations and life of the Tiger Shark even though it's the greatest predator of equatorial waters, and this special hopes to uncover some hidden truths

6pm - 6:30pm
National Nine News

6:30pm - 7pm
Postcards

This week on Postcards the team have put together some special great escape deals that include hotel stay and a visit to some of Melbourne's attractions. The Sofitel in Collins Street offers wine tasting at Federation Square, Quest on William's family escape includes a family pass to the Melbourne Aquarium, the Melbourne Marriott offers an overnight stay and a pass to the Melbourne Museum and Rydges Melbourne Hotel includes an escorted tour of top shopping outlets. Also on the program, Bridget plays in a charity golf game, Steve goes abseiling and Livinia checks out the Royal Australian Ballet's training schedule.

7pm - 9pm
NRL Grand Final Day

Wide World of Sports presents the 2003 Telstra Premiership Grand Final live and exclusive from Telstra Stadium. Join your expert commentary team including Ray Warren, Peter Sterling, Paul Vautin, Phil Gould and Andrew Voss for all the action. (Includes Keno at 7:29).

And that's it.... no pre-match show, no early games, no post-match show. Considering the effort that was put into the AFL grand final, even in Sydney, the NRL should be absolutely appalled at the way their showpiece event is being broadcast by Nine in most states.

Adelaide and Perth viewers are worse off than Melbourne viewers. The GF is being broadcast at 10:30pm in both those states. The West Aussies are particularly hard done by, they'll be seeing the game three and a half hours after it's already finished.

Channel 9's coverage looks to be the best Grand Final day in years. :D

It's a shame Melbourne and others can't follow suit. :( Max Is Missing? Incan artefact? What the hell?!?! They can't be serious. :x

surley there would be more interset in melbourne for the JB cup final than a rerun of an old lassie film?

Perth and Adelaide shame channel 9 shame.

The Northern Territory will be getting the same day long broadcast as in Sydney on the Imparja Channel...
In South Australia some parts will be getting the full days coverage with the Imparja Channel, but the nine channel in the capital will be getting delayed telecasts from between 10.30pm and 10.45pm... i hope you got that...
Western Australia will get the replay at 10.45pm...
Queensland have the same coverage as NSW and so too does the ACT...
In Tasmania it will be shown from 7.30pm with boots n all on at 1pm...
And lastly Victoria, it will be sown from 7pm...

By the way, the ratings for Saturday in Sydney was an average 807 000, just below the average for the third state of origin... The AFL final drew a national average of 3 million, but in sydney only attracted below the 200 000 mark.

Melbourne telecast starts at 7.00PM to 9.00PM, no pre match entertainment or presentation of the trophy. Nine Melbourne get your act together. Also start to advertise it or you will complain about the low ratings, if people don’t know it is on they won’t watch it.
