Channel Ten Sport - Brisbane

I just sat through the entire Channel Ten Sports report on the 5 o'clock bulletin and did not see anything but AFL.

I understand Ten have the AFL GF and that the Lions are in there. So I expect it to dominate the bulletin up here in Brisbane especially. However, I cannot believe that they did not talk or show anything about RL or any sport for that matter.

There are huge RL games coming up this weekend. The Union world cup is only a week or so away. There simply could not be no news coming from those codes.

What a disgrace. Did anyone else notice this? Ten sport used to be my favourite sports bulletin as it covered stories Nine and Seven normally didnt mention.

I rang Ten and complained... if anyone else is as annoyed as me could you do the same thing?

Channel 10 has been this way since it got the rights.....im over it!!

Ch 10 can give as much attention to the game as it wan'ts......just remember it's a dildo sport....and no other country gives a shite a bout it....that's why there forced to play Gaelic football for there internationals as some compromise..between the two most inferiour, mongrel sports there is!!

Whether we like union, league, tennis, lawn bowls or whatever sport, if there is news available for a sport, which a good majority of the state likes (eg. union and league) then the news should show it. Its not acceptable that the entire news coverage be dedicated to one sport.

agree, though the big news this week on any channel in brisbane would be the AFL, considering the broncos are out. having said that, there would be a large proportion of league devotees, so you were right to object to their lack of news/sports coverage.
does the courier mail devote a lot of space to league considering the broncos have bowed out?

and there is 2 professional comps in the world

and 2 semi professional leagues

and the russian one could be bordering on it in a few years (semi professionalism that is)

Firstly, please don't turn this into an AFL v RL post. It isn't, we all know that most people here don't like AFL. No need to post that.

Syphon, the courier mail is about 50/50 the past week. RL is still getting plenty of coverage on 9 and 7 and in the newspaper, even though the broncos are gone.

It just so happens the other football codes in league's place of origin also originated there. League was the last of those codes to originate, so you'd expect it to not have the popularity. Still well ahead of union in its heartland though.

League also has the main presence in Australia's biggest state and soon to be second largest state - let's not just count the main comps either. Country, juniors, QLD cup, overall teams - League has two big states covered in androtop Ball's only country of true existence.

Who won the local Sydney androtop Ball comp? Nobody knows and nobody cares except androtop ball followers like syphon. Pretty bleak once the swans are taken out of the equation.

League also has a Swans-like presence in NZ thanks to the Warriors. Still produce more local talent than the swans. Bartercard Cup comp is getting stronger. Even if the warriors were out top league players would still be produced from NZ.

Infact according to a number of English people i spoke with recently it dominates Union completly over there.
