Canterbury sign Nick Meany from Newcastle on a 3 year deal starting in 2019 (Source: https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2018/06/28/nick-meaney-signs-for-the-bulldogs/).

Chris Smith released by the Sydney Roosters and to join the Canterbury Bulldogs for the rest of 2018 (Sources: https://www.roosters.com.au/news/2018/06/29/roosters-release-chris-smith/ https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2018/06/28/chris-smith-to-join-the-bulldogs/). Smith was already signed to join the Bulldogs on a 2 year deal commencing in 2019.

He actually likes physical contact. Wouldn't fit in with their culture.

Good point. Sharks will definitely need some more forwards by then so might as well have Gus paying some of the freight - Flanno loves a bargain. From the riff to the Shire RCG will think he's won the lotto.

Xcalibur obviously had prior knowledge of these big recruitment manoeuvres when placing guarantees on Canterbury's upcoming success.

I'm no fan of the Sharks but, given the status of both clubs at the moment, that is a HUGE call to make!

One comp in over 50 yrs... I don't think it's a huge call. Dogs haven't had to wait very long between wins since 1980. Since their last in 2004 is the second longest wait in their history and being runners-up a couple of times in the meantime isn't bad.

Not so sure about us not crying. Surprisingly, he has been close to our best this year. No doubt he has his SKD moments every now and then, but he runs for 200m per game and can find the line. If his head stays in the right place he could work out OK for you blokes.
