Contract Renegotiation

Every team gets to renegotiate one contract per year if they wish, it is optional. The player has to have at least one year left on his contract. Players who finished 2016 on IR or on the suspended list are ineligible.

This is like a clean slate, nominating a player puts them on the open market, however the current owner has the opportunity to match the highest bid and assign years.

If an owner chooses not to match the highest bid, they receive no compensation and the highest bidder wins the player and can assign years.

If you wish to renegotiate one of your player's contracts, name them in this thread by Sunday 28th May at 10pm.

An auction draft will be set up and I will input the names of those up for nomination, this will run concurrently with franchise tag and transition tag nominations.

Spider 2Y Banana - Adrian Peterson
Sultans of Schwing - Tyler Lockett
Bortle Service - Randall Cobb
Orange Crush - Chris Ivory
Gronk Spiked Punch -
Wentzville Hangmen - Carlos Hyde
No Fly Zone -
T.B.C. - Allen Robinson
The Year Of The Diamond Dogs -
Las Vegas Outlaws -
Haynesville Dreamweavers - Eli Manning
House of Carr - Jeremy Maclin

CravensMeJohnson - I've also dropped Latavius Murray ($14.4k) and Julius Thomas ($8k). Both had 1 year remaining and a cap penalty is needed.

Sorry to be a pain in arse with my dumb questions, but how exactly does this re negotiation auction work? Does everyone else bid on the players until the 24hrs is up and when no further bids are received, the original owner has the right trump the winner of the auction? For example Allen Robinson is bid up to $15k and no further bids are received. Does that mean I can then re sign him for $16k and the auction is over? That would mean we as previous owners do not need to bid until the auction has stalled on our players?

You got it. The auction starts at $1000, the current owner doesn't need to do anything, other teams can bid. The individual auctions end after there's no bid for 48 hours. Once that's done the original owner just needs to match the highest bid to keep that guy or they can decline.

Franchise tag and transition tags will work similarly. Main difference is that starting salary. No bids means the player in on the tag for one year. If there's a bid, it changes to a normal contract, years assigned.

And if an owner loses a franchise tagged player they get 2 1st round draft picks? When do they come along and where do they apply? Are they like compensatory picks in the real NFL draft and just added on as extras at the end of the 2017 first round?

This league is awesome. Glad it's coming into business time. Love studying the rookies and trying to find a hidden gem.

Hey fellas. Can we keep the last minute bids to a minimum though? No need to bid 30 seconds out and resetting the clock 48 hours. Last years auction became a bit torturous toward the end.

That just comes with the territory. Just make a mental note of who did it to you so you can do it to them.
