How's this any different to all the clubs that have had Andrew Johns come in to help with their halves? Or the Broncos with Alfie Langer? Warriors with Stacey Jones? Did you have a cry about all them too? Or is it just Melbourne?

Yes I cry about Melbourne when they have not 1 but a dozen of them + wrestling coach + BJJ coach + 6 assistance coaches + yoga coach and every other performance edge they can possibly afford beyond their means

It's different because any promises like this to a current player are meant to count towards the salary cap.

The difference is they did not sign a contract to "coach" until they had retired.

This clearly means Cronk will retire and this bullshit role is just a backend to his playing contract and as such should count on Melbournes cap.

What f**king club in their right mind would sign on a player who has already agreed to a coaching deal with his previous club?

I think the offer to Cronk to be a halves coach for Melbourne and Cronks acceptance before he has confirmed his retirement is an incredibly cynical attempt to backend contract monies from his playing career and avoid the cap. As cynical as how they play to the rules of the game but that has been well documented.

You can sugar coat it any way you want but if they wanted to do it the right way, they would have waited for a decision on his retirement.

As for keeping players they have produced, talk me through your definition of produced? They have scouted a lot of top talent and brought them into grade with incredible success but have produced f**k all.

Ok you can have Mahe Fonua and Jake Webster. They are the GWS of the nrl.

And no I do not want my club to cheat as the Storm have/do. It would be a hollow victory. Storm do a lot of great things but completely undermine it with cynical bullshit such as this.
