Buckleys chance he would join the Dragons.

Being realistic they should look at Tagatese, Latimore or Passi.

All off contract and all three not being super stars would offer experience at an affordable price and not blocking the path for Lawrie and Kerr to progress.

Also add Sheppard to that list from the NYC who is highly thought of at the club.

If Klemmer came where does that leave Kerr? IMO he needs to be tested at first grade level before we spend big money on some one else. Look at Sele , what a revelation he has been!!!

If we want to maintain momentum after Packer leaves, we need to recruit like for like or better. We need a solid prop rotation to maintain the power game style.

Vaughan and Klemmer the run on props.
Ah Mau and Kerr/Lawrie the props off the bench.
Sims/Sele or Leilua/Host the backrowers of the bench.

Amusing how people now want to go for Klemmer and part of the arguement being used is he is still young 23 / 24
He has been around for 4 years now, so blooded at 29 / 20 played SOO and Australia by 21
Some want to buy him yet not blood our own and even further block their progress
Some people are so opportunistic re these things but get up the club for not securing juniors etc
You can't have it both ways
We have some real quality players coming through that need to be nurtured and buying Klemmer is not the way to do it.
Sometimes you have to buy in due to lack of quality coming through the system and at other times you should bight the bullet and develop your own.
We are not short of talent at this time and investing in them is a far cheaper and more sustainable option than going for expensive buy ins that ultimately stuff up you cap and pathways.
We have people good enough for the step to NRL and they will only get better if you play them there.
If we foresake our juniors for buy ins we will destroy our very foundations and nurseries and never recover from it.

Very fair post OT and I'm more than happy to blood our juniors. In saying that if we can get a SOO and international prop, a young one at that it would be the same as having retained packer.

I have no issues with the club saying they will fill Packers role internally.

Those people you allude to who are very opportunistic around these things are the ones that say we should replace with either like for like or better (so there goes the juniors) but then are the first to blame Millward or Mary for not getting the players in or then for juniors not being retained.

I was hoping for Kasiano, praying for Fafita, happy if it ended up as Klemmer.
The juniors will get their chances through injury and rep duties once they are ready.
They are still young and will develop over the next few years.

Can't believe some on this forum saying no to the possibility of an Aust rep forward so untried lower graders can be given the position. Let them learn, develop, and force their way into FG if good enough.

Gotta have an established tough prop toreplace Packer and maintain forward dominance.

Old Timer, we can walk and chew gum at the same time. To be up there with the best we need two top grade props in the run on side. Vaughn and Packer are those props now - both recruited from outside our Club. Our other two regular props Ah Mau and Sims are not top grade props. Our young talent should compete with these two players for the bench prop positions. If both Kerr and Lawrie are playing well enough, there is no logical reason why they should not be promoted to the bench in place of Ah Mau and Sims.

Thompson, Frizell and De Belin are our run on backrow. Sims/Sele have been our backrowers on the bench. So Host/Sele/Leilua can compete for our backrow bench spots. Buying Klemmer would not effect these backrow forwards.

All for bringing good or international players to the club . But I would imagine the problem with Klemmer will be his asking price . We let Packer go because we wouldn't match the 4 years or money offered . So what do you think Klemmer will be asking ? ..800k per year? . If we were not willing to pay Packer that why would we then pay something around that to Klemmer ?. A front rower like Paasi who is around the same age and you would get for less than half what Klemmer will be asking may be far better value .

If he's available then he's worth a look. Just can't see it happening based on likely $$ involved.

Spot on...We need to replace Packer and Klemmer would most likely be out of reach in terms of Money. Someone like Paasi would be a good fit.

Spot on... The usual trend for Saints is to lose rep players, not sign them.

Straight Shooter

Widdop/Friz/Thompson/Lafai/Hunt/DeBelin/Sele/Vaughan .... Junior Reps ...Field/Robson/Marsters...Can't keep

them all without losing promising juniors coming through.
