True .....But isn't it obvious what Mary is about with this team? Saying it is so doesn't matter.

No way Mary will go with that.We should sign Packer now before ew lose him to the Tigers.
Select Field at fullback and see how he goes. If he goes well, withdraw the offer to Dugan and sign Lafai, Mann and Milne. Dugan's injury gives the Club the opportunity to test Field at fullback without upsetting Dugan and without having to making a decision on Dugan.
Clashing with Millward will not help Mary's cause. Millward now has the power, he cotrols the purse strings and planning for our Clubs rosters and squads. No way Mary will go with that.
He concerned about his job not 2018!
Flo will be 1 for sure.

I doubt Dugan really cares whether he plays fullback or centre for the Dragons. Dugan and his manager care how much money the contract is worth. Millward made a mess of it by mentioning the term 'centre money'. I'm sure if he did not say that, the deal would have been done by now and Dugan would be playing fullback until a junior is blooded and tested.Just for the record, I know Dugan is a quality fullback, but he is an elite centre. He was pretty much best on ground last night in the first half and every time he touched the ball on the edges running off Cronk he looked dangerous.
Millward is right, Dugan would be immense for us at centre moving forward and if someone like Field can flourish at fullback it will be a f**king masterstroke.
If Field fails, Dugan moves back to fullback. What is there to lose?
IMHO Dugan s asking price is a little high and the club a bit bellow.
The figure is somewhere in between....not that f**kn hard really.
There are not that many quality fullbacks left to replace him with.
We are chronically slow and inept with these types of negotiations and will pay the price if he is let go.
I agree, the bloke has a real issue with Dugan......as Ive mentioned on other posts hes more like an imposter than a true supporter....bloody disgraceful....ive now decided Alecs-saints is on my permanent no correspondence list....its bad enough we have to put up with trolls on here but this club an its supporters can do witnout his kind.....his remarks lately are shameful imoPathetic& disappointing statement from a supposed Saints supporter also under current laws he has to go off like it or not
TRVR - Dugan has $300k odd to lose.Just for the record, I know Dugan is a quality fullback, but he is an elite centre. He was pretty much best on ground last night in the first half and every time he touched the ball on the edges running off Cronk he looked dangerous.

He would definitely be my next preference if Duges decides to move on.
First preference is that Millward pulls his head out of his ass and pays Dugan what he's worth.
Interesting question. Whilst I would agree $750k is a decent offer, I whole wholeheartedly disagree with Millward's suggestion that Dugan should be paid as a centre.
Dugan is right, he's the best fullback in the club. He's a world class player. He's an incumbent Test and NSW player. He has won NSW Player of the Series as a fullback. More importantly than all of that, throughout his Dragons career he has consistently been one of our best players. I can't even remember a single game where I thought to myself "geez Dugan is playing rubbish today". I don't see any of that changing in 2018 and beyond (assuming he re-signs).
I believe he's a franchise player. He has a rock star aura about him. In terms of the media and public he is probably the most talked about player in the club (and never for the wrong reasons since he joined us). He puts bums on seats, creates headlines and draws young fans to the club.
I believe the Dragons should offer him a contract that reflects his standing within the club. Offering him centre money (currently considered one of the least valued positions in terms of contract dollars) is an insult.
Sign Packer and withdraw the offer to Dugan. Dugnan's manager will soon come begging wanting the original deal. If not sign Lafai, Mann and Milne. I'm sure we can find a way to slot Field into fullback and protect him by swapping Field with Flo or another back when in defence.
We can't lose Mary's balls, because he hasn't got any.Just for the record, I know Dugan is a quality fullback, but he is an elite centre. He was pretty much best on ground last night in the first half and every time he touched the ball on the edges running off Cronk he looked dangerous.

Ah Mau was a case in point, took him several years to become reliable.I believe that we should sign Packer now. He is part of the strongest forward pack that we have had for years. In 1967 we let Kevin Ryan go and he won a premiership for Canterbury. We must have a strong
forward pack and if we keep the current crop for 3-4 years we will be
competitive unlike the last 5 years. While our young forwards are promising they are not yet battle hardened like our starting pack and Ah Mau and Sims.
What do you think would happen with Dugan's contract if Packer signed with the Tigers now?
lol wow another baseless assumption you are on a roll.Clashing with Millward will not help Mary's cause. Millward now has the power, he cotrols the purse strings and planning for our Clubs rosters and squads.
