Scott brings leadership and a bit of grubby play. I like that.
Matagi a few games has stood up when we needed it with some fearsome charges.
Mannah is in decline imo. Look at his stats 2yrs ago. His HIA are taking a toll.
He's certainly playing fewer minutes - about ten minutes per game less than in 2015. The HIAs would be a big part of it, and a bit sus IMO. But it's also related to the fact we don't need as many minutes from him.
Last night we got this many minutes (rounded so adds up to 241 rather than 240) from the blokes we used in the three middle forward spots:
80 Brown
46 Vave
36 Matagi
34 Alvaro
32 Moeroa (plus 34 at edge forward)
13 Mannah
Last week it was:
85 Brown
58 Moeroa (plus 10 at edge forward)
41 Alvaro
36 Matagi
35 Mannah
Both wins, and Mannah playing the fewest minutes. But as you can see, the only blokes who are being 'overworked' are Brown and Moeroa, but they seem to be coping.
By comparison, the first two rounds (also both wins) looked like this:
Round 1
51 Mannah
47 Matagi
47 Scott
46 Brown
25 Alvaro
24 O'Brien
Round 2
49 Scott
47 Brown (plus 7 at hooker)
42 Matagi
37 Alvaro
34 Mannah
27 O'Brien
4 Moeroa (plus 55 at edge forward)
So as Arthur's said, our starts are one of our strengths, and very important to us. Mannah is the only middle forward to have started every game. He soaks up a lot of the punishment from teams trying to smash us through the middle. He does his job and gets to spend most of the game on the sideline. Lately he's not even costing us an interchange lol
