Good point. The one CONSTANT here is obviously Maguire. How many young players has he actually developed into good starters??? Fact is Maguire inherited a loaded roster - Luke Dave Taylor Burgess Brothers Inglis Walker Reynolds Lima Keary Johnson then Teo'o etc etc . He has since decimated that roster and signed on to big name players with dwindling production. How on earth has Maguire lost TWO YOUNG STARTING CENTRES strong fast athletic men a threat to score from anywhere on the park... HOW DID HE LOSE BOTH THESE STUDS????
Burgess twins both made their nrl debuts under maguire and made their test debuts under his coaching.
Reynolds made his debut under maguire and made origin under his coaching
Johnston and walker were given their debut under maguire and made test football under his coaching.
Dave taylor made his test debut under maguire.
Keary was one of madges
Lima and Teo were maguire recruits.
Just look at our Grand final team.
Inglis- came to us a centre, maguire turned him into the best fullback in the game
Johnston- maguire gave him his debut in 2014
Auva'a- maguire gave him his debut in 2014
Walker- maguire gave him his debut in 2013
Tuquiri- maguire recruited him after his failed stint in Irish rugby
Keary- maguire debuted him in 2013
Reynolds- maguire debuted him in 2012
Tyrrell- maguire got him playing his best football
Korisau- maguire debuted him in 2014. He covered for Luke who played his best football under maguire
G. Burgess- maguire debuted him in 2012
Sutton- made the origin extended bench in 2013 under maguires coaching
Teo- recruited by maguire
S. Burgess- recruited by crowe
Turner- debuted by maguire in 2014
Mcqueen- was a reserve grade winger until maguire came. Became an origin 2nd rower under maguire
T.Burgess- recruited by maguire- debuted in 2013
Clark- played his best football under maguire
So to say Maguire inherited a gun team is pretty wrong, especially considering we only played finals once in the 22 years before maguire became coach
