QLD have won the toss and will bat.

Going to be an interesting game. McKay will be missing along with those still injured from our bowling attack. It appears our bowlers for this game will be Pattinson x 2, McGain, Hastings and McDonald.

Holland came into the team for D.Pattinson who is sick.

James Pattinson looks a likely type only 19yrs old, bowls mid 130s and swings it quite a bit.

Holland opened the bowling as well 6 overs 0/14

QLD 1/50 off 15 overs

Simpson and Phillipson pulled something out of their a$$es to get QLD to 260. I suppose it was always a chance with 6 first choice pace bowlers out leaving medium pacers and spinners to bowl at the death.

VIC in strife at 4/115 still need less than 6rpo with White and McDonald at the crease.

Victoria should have been able to chase that down with a full strength batting attack.

QLD's team is not that great on paper - Carseldine and Hopes are the only top quality players, Simpson and Hartley are adequate, whilst Reardon is very inconsistent. Where they are winning their matches, is with their underrated bowling lineup.

Scott Walter is a tremendous talent who swings the ball alot, Chris Swan is a very handy line and length swing bowler, whilst Cutting is a very strong lad with pace and height that is doing very well in the absence of Ryan Harris as the spearhead. But the key men so far this season are Nathan Rimmington and Ben Laughlin.

Ben Laughlin - 13 games, 29 wickets, average 14.41
Nathan Rimmington - 10 games, 23 wickets, average 14.95

These are amazing averages (most limited overs bowlers average between 20 to 35 runs per wickets), and yet neither of these bowlers generate prodigious swing, searing pace or anything of that regard. They are just bowling to their field, bowling with plenty of variety too - I doubt that either are international standard to be honest, but both remind me of Ian Harvey.

Cutting is a star of the future IMO.. He will do well if his body holds up...

Disappointing chase by the Vics but it was good to see Wade keep his form up with the bat. IMO he can't be too far away from overtaking Manou as the 3rd choice keeper.

Currently Wade is 6th choice keeper, he is the only keeper in Australia not to be picked by the national team in the last 12 months

As for the chase, sh*t effort but the bowlers lost it, QLD is very much a bowling side, Hopes is their worst averaging 27, the rest are around 21 and under in average with the 2 highlighted earlier at 14

Compare that to Victoria who were forced to play 2 spinners due to so many fast bowlers missing and it showed at the end as with just 2 quicks in the side and both inexeperienced they were unable to contain the QLD slog
