One thing that may interest people is the Federation is attempting to arrange internationals against Fiji and New Zealand for October 2018.

What other codes would they be competing against now?

It could be a great move if there is less competition other footy codes.

The article also states that they are expanding their junior operations, slightly re-aligning their 'pyramid', and trending the Elite One towards professionalism with the goal of 20 contracted players per club

Playing over Summer is great but i heard it can get into the High 30s in France (especially the south in Summer). Maybe best to play late afternoon/evening matches for the first season?

If they are expecting more internationals and improving their domestic scene well done to the French!

Definitely true especially in those parts of France. But everything up until June should be ok. Perhaps late as possible kick-offs are the solution after that.
