Just as well there are no antifa guys around here seeing they're worse than HItler and ISIS.

Antifa - bringing concentration camps to rightards everywhere

Thee's something disingenuous comparing antifa with Nazis...I'm thinking what that might be....

    Oh yeah....

I’m an 80-Year-Old Holocaust Survivor. Antifas Aren’t Scary. Neo-Nazis Are

More than 70 years after hiding in a Berlin cellar, I’m faced once again with neo-Nazis spewing and spreading their hate and beliefs around white supremacy

    http://www.yesmagazine.org/peace-ju...or-antifas-arent-scary-neo-nazis-are-20170925

Can someone tell Coll and the rightards when it's safe to come out of their cellars.

Antifa are just a bunch of protestors/complainers

Like the Bob Katter's and Andrew Bolts of the world they make a lot of noise but will never be in a position to actually implement whatever policy/philosophy that they believe in

How the Russians manipulated division in the US.....

A Russian Facebook page organized a protest in Texas. A different Russian page launched the counterprotest.
Newly released Facebook ads revealed Wednesday show that two Russian-linked Facebook groups organized opposing protests last year at the same time outside an Islamic center in Houston.

Protesters turned up to protest each other - but no one from the 'organisers' on either side......

    Wonder why?

Yeah if ever I come up with some extremist ideology the first thing I really need to do is really work out the uniform policy. These unite the right protesters just looked like nerdlingers in their slacks and polo shirts and antifa look ridiculous in the old black bloc stuff.

They need to workshop some better looks

That's categorically false, there're open (or were open until a scandal hit) Antifa sympathisers and supporters in power all over the world in all sorts of positions of power, a well known example is the Mayor of Berkeley California who has assisted and excused Antifa and Antifa connected groups multiple times and was a member of an Antifa connected group before becoming mayor.

The worlds largest black bloc (if you don't know what a black bloc is search it) happened in Hamburg Germany where the G20 was being held this year, it was organised by Antifa and other anarchist and communist groups, it effectively shut down the city for at least a couple of days, if you read most newspapers they refer to it as a "left wing protest" which is true but also doesn't give you the full picture, as it was more then just a left wing protest it was an extremely far left riot that destroyed millions (potentially tens of millions) of dollars of property and injured hundreds potentially thousands of people (the numbers aren't clear at all), most whom that were severely injured claim they were declared Nazis by someone in the black bloc then attacked by the mob.
Or take Charlottesville where a relatively tiny group of Nazis, white nationalists, Neo-Confederates and a group of constitutionalists and free speech advocates (whom have largely been lumped in with the Nazis by most media groups despite not being white nationalists or Nazis at all) were out numbered by anywhere from 10-50 to one by counter protesters whom were mainly made up of different variations of anarchists, communists, and cultural Marxists, now don't get me wrong here I'm not in anyway supporting or condoning the Nazis or what they did that day, but if you read most papers or listen to most news groups on Charlottesville you'll be spun a picture of a very open and shut case of Nazis coming in and destroying the place when all evidence suggests that had the Nazis been able to come in, light their stupid torches and go home that nothing too serious would have happened those couple of days, but that's not what happened, a huge group of counter protesters lead largely by Antifa came in and started getting violent (as you do if your Antifa, that's the whole point of Antifa to literally fight fascists) and the two groups started fighting until things got really out of hand (apart from the constitutionalists and free speech advocates who largely decided to get the hell out of their once things started to go down).
Again I'm not supporting or condoning what either side that day did, just trying to show that there were no innocents out there that day, and that both sides were complicit in what happen.

Multiple politician at multiple levels of government all over the world that aren't 'confirmed' (for lack of a better word) to be Antifa supporters, but because of their political stances it's safe to assume that they at least sympathise with them if they don't openly support them, for example Jeremy Corbyn the British leader of the opposition who has openly refused to condemn dangerous far left groups multiple times (particularly communist ones) and is on the record praising almost every communist/socialist dictator out their, staying with the British theme you have John McDonnell the Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer whom there's multiple videos of outright stating that he's a Marxist communist and hopes that there's a global market crash so that a communist government has an opportunity to take power in Britain.

I'm not even going to be bothered going into the amount of professors and teachers around the world that have openly said they support Antifa, communism, or racial supremacist groups of some form or another, there're even quite a few have been arrested for facilitating or organising Antifa "protests" that have got violent or been arrested for participating in that violence themselves (there was one that went around hitting random "Nazis" (really just people he disagreed with) with a bike lock as part of an Antifa "protest"), a quick google search and a minimal amount of research would give you hundreds and hundreds of examples if you're really interested.

As I said before in a previous post I'm sure there were plenty of people who said similar things to what you are saying through out history, just before the things they ignored came around and bit them in the arse.
From where I'm standing (a firmly left wing person) I'm quite worried about the growth of Antifa and other Anarcho-communist groups around the world (though largely speaking Australia has missed the worst of it) and how these ideas seem to be being pushed so heavily (and often clandestinely) without reasonable retort from reasonable people in the media and particularly in Universities, maybe you're right and it's nothing to worry about, but I know enough about history to know just how quickly things like this can turn bad, really bad.

But the real thing that makes me worry is the fact that a friend and his wife that lived in the Soviet union for a long, long, time, since before even I was born, are starting to see similarities to how things were back then, the same sort of rhetoric, the same political tactics, the same plays for power, the same attempts at policing speech and thought, and they're getting genuinely scared by it, and frankly if people like them are getting scared by this stuff then we should be worried, really worried.

Why do you think there is a push towards the edge of the extreme left within the mainstream in the developed world ? Is it perhaps deeper than just radical university lecturers ?

Labour in the UK has tried to dump Corbyn on multiple occasions but the party rank and file constantly put him back in. Why is this ?

No there's not, as I said at their core Antifa are communists, and at the end of the day a gulag and a concentration camp aren't all that different.

And I can understand why an 80 year old holocaust survivor is scared of Neo-Nazis, but in America only 5000-8000 people are KKK members and the Neo-Nazis are a smaller group then them, so even though we don't have any clear numbers on how many self identified Nazis are in America we know that it's less than 5000-8000 people and those numbers were shrinking at least until very, very recently, when other racist and racialist groups started gaining power in America and getting free paces because they aren't white, and even whether or not the Neo-Nazis are actually growing is debated and if they are actually growing that growth is minuscule.

Nazi are universally hated by everyone that isn't a Nazi, there're is no mainstream cultural media (movies, music, news, etc) that lionises Nazism or Nazis, there're no prominent and/or powerful figures anywhere that openly support Nazism, Nazis are literally considered the lowest of the low, literally so much so that it's ok in our society to openly discriminate against Nazis in our culture (you can refuse them service, you can fire them based on the fact that they were Nazis, etc).

None of that is true about communism or communists in the current climate, especially when it come to the left.

Oh dear the greens are going to rule the world.

    McCarthyism is back

Ffs who compares protests against white supremacy with Soviet/ nazism?

It's been going on for years eg remember the blues brothers. Just that back in those days no one felt sorry for nazism getting thrown into water.

    It was funny.

    Now the rightards are outraged.

Dude, just as well you never lived in Germany where it's against the law to be a nazi.

Because you know that's soviet thought police.

That's an extremely deep and complex question that I don't have the answer to, in fact I don't think that anybody has the answer to it.

However I think that a lot of it can be traced back to five things, extreme economic inequality, fear and the powers that political groups have been able to grab because of that fear (see the massive expansion in surveillance and security after 9/11 in western countries), the growth of culturally Marxist ideas (particularly Cultural Relativism, and ignoring basic biological realities such as sexual dimorphism in humans for example), mass immigration in some parts of the world (particularly Europe) and the outsourcing of jobs to third world nations decreasing the wadges of low skilled workers and reducing the total number of low skilled jobs in first world countries, and an extreme lack of knowledge and understanding of history in the general public.

It's true that Labour in the UK has tried to dump Corbyn on multiple occasions, but the idea isn't a particularly popular one with a lot of their constituency particularly the younger generations, and I wouldn't be surprised if his replacement wasn't much better then he is.

I am Sorry that they are so long, but detail is important, particularly in discussions like this.

No most people are what the Soviet Union called "useful idiots", people who defended the Soviet Union and communism in the west without actually having a clue what it was actually like in the Soviet Union or under communism.

Same thing with Antifa, people take it at face value as anti-fascism without doing further research into it and end up being either being used as a useful idiot by someone with Antifa leanings or making fool out of themselves defending Antifa without actually knowing a thing about them.
Ironically most are actually liberal anti-authoritarian like me, and just don't realise that they are defending an extremely authoritarian group (similar thing happens with a lot of anti-Islamophobic groups).

Ha, not at all, but that doesn't mean that I'm not still strongly opposed to communism or any form of authoritarianism really.

Must be why in most western countries there aren't true leftist parties.

They are at best centrists like Shorten.

But watch out for the marxists.....

No most people are well aware of who fascism is and your idiotic nonsense has nothing to do with Marxism but with treating people with basic respect.
People like you twist that for your own right wing agenda.

18c had nothing to do with Marxism, neither do antidiscrimination policies.

You just want the right to lie and discriminate against others without any resistance.

So you dress yourself up as a cultural warrior.

    You talk bs.

    We see through your pretence.

Lol, and what do you think the references to extreme economic inequality and the decreasing value of low skilled workers were?

Capitalism isn't perfect, nothing is, but it's the best system we've got, so until we come up with a better system we're stuck with it (a bit like democracy). That doesn't mean that we shouldn't keep a tight reign on it though, corporatism in particular, which my opinion is the biggest factor in the two problems above.

capitalism is held in check by our democratic process that allows for "the left" to challenge it.... it's far from perfect but it's better than it was when it was unchecked..... look how well the caste system in India is working out.....

And if you had half a brain you would realise that there are no true leftist parties....other than maybe the greens.

Of course there's more you left out such as the destruction of unionism, the development of the global economy....
