If The Warriors Were A Sci-Fi Movie Or TV Show

Phil's recent comment in the Is It Possible To Get Worse? thread about us needing a couple of hard Aussies back in our pack, Campion and Luck rebooted, got me thinking about that sci-fi movie where no one gets any older than 30, I forget its name.

Anyway, to lighten the mood, as per the thread title, here's a few I can think of straight away:

Logan's Run - one of our great moments, surely? No free passes allowed though.

Space 1999 - try thinking of that season and nothing but vast emptiness abounds.

Star Trek - a journey into the abyss, in this episode Mooks space-walks Luke to the frontier gate.

Lost In Space - a Mooks and RTS press conference.

These were 1970s TV shows and movies when I was a kid.

There must be more. A lot more.

Logan's Run is the one where nobody gets past 30, isn't it? How serendipitous.

Looper
The Terminator (of our dreams)
Children of Men (more like Children vs Men)
Edge of Tomorrow (because we're constantly stuck in a groundhog day of losing)
Killjoys
Lost

STAR WARRIORS - may the farce be with you.

Supermen V - a lost crew of star warriors confuse kryptonite for an everyday energy drink. Will they find their way home?

Independence Day III - Dark overlord, ERIC2015, abandons the PENROSE1995 as it hurtles towards Earth. Who will save the day?

Steve Martin to play the role of Kearney.
We would be a comedy. ARE a comedy. We are a comedy - correction.

If we're talking about what's between their ears - A space odyssey.

If we're taling about how the team looks at competent football - Alien

If we're talking about the ethnic mix of our team like so many fans love to argue - Minority Report

If we're talking that feeling we get when they give away a stupid penalty or defend like curtains - Total Recall

The Quiet Earth - Mt Smart during our next home game.

Men In Black - a better programmed code has seized a whole nation's attention.

Dark Star - SJ11 pissed-off they can never win without him.

In(ter)ception - KATA-bot thinks this is the only way he can save the day in defence.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Grind - the crew aim-up as part of Commander Mooks' process.

Oooh ooh oooh, "Species". Fans are lured in by a flashy, good looking facade, only to be fncked hard and ultimately left unsatisfied and cast aside for dead. Also, just like Natasha Hensridge, the Warriors keep forgetting their lines and aren't well rehearsed, directed by an idiot with a dubious grasp of the English language.

Maybe I was just looking for an excuse to post a photo of my cat, Kiwi, without stinking up a serious thread. A mate of mine said he reminds him of Kevin Tamati:

Unsolved Mysteries.

I can hear a Robert Stack gravel guts monologue now...

4557030_l2.jpg

"Six years ago a proud club, destined to be the greatest in the southern hemisphere, were flying high.
Then suddenly in a flurry of colourful jerseys, something changed and the club has been a mere shadow ever since.
What happened that fateful year? Where did the big Warriors forwards disappear to? Why are so many coaches careers killed within months of contact with the club? Just what did Sam Tomkins slip on every week? What in the blue hell is THE PROCESS?

All this and more tonight... on Unsolved Mysteries."

Source Code.

Each week former marine Sgt. Steve 'Mooks' Kearney is teleported to the scene of impending doom, where he must prevent it from happening. Each week he learns a little more but continues to fail. Can he make it in time?

Ever the optimist...
The Martian (great movie! lol)
A nerd left behind for dead on an inhospitable planet by the rest of the team who had no idea of his resilience, resolution and mad genius till later in the movie. Meanwhile on earth the powers-that-be argue the merit (and cost) of a rescue mission once they find out he's alive & is using his knowledge to sustain life for the next 4 years (the time it would take to mount an earth rescue). But its the risk-takers, the specialists and the coming together of a shared goal that drives all of them ultimately to realise there is a moral duty to at least try - with an unlikely alliance that realises the political and technical advantages for the exploration of space (and the condemnation for not being part of it). The whole world watches in the end, united in the higher purpose of 'no man is left behind'. After many plausable but failed solutions the team is given some help and realise it is up to them- they vote to a man to go back and get him because that's what you do - success and legacy is the reward. :p
