If you are looking for the opposite of encouraging anecdotes, I broke and dislocated my ankle in almost the exact same fashion playing footy many a year ago.

He didn't get his ankle caught under the defender like I did but I wouldn't be shocked if syndesmosis was in play. Hopefully it is only a minor sprain though.
