First game last night in Mackay went the way of the Blackhawks, but only just. 16-14 in the end after the Cutters led.

Interesting watching the Sunshine Coast v Souths game. Craig Ingerbritsen has them playing that same niggliging cheap shot crap that Easts used to play. Some coaches never change.

The Wynnum v Tweed game never rose to any great heights but the Wynnum variety Seagulls did enough to record an important win.

Tweed led 6-0 early on the back of plenty of possession. Wynnum butchered the few chances they had in the first 30 minutes but gradually settled down to lead 12-8 at the break. The locals capitalised on a dreadful Tweed error 12 minutes into the second half to extend the lead. After that, they started to punch holes in the Tweed defence to run in four more tries while Tweed scored one soft consolation try.

The game was slowed by a glut of penalties, mainly to Tweed in the first half but probably evened up a bit by the end of the game.

Wynnum need to keep winning to be a chance of making the finals for the seventh straight year. Their remaining games against Norths and Sunshine Coast (away) and against Easts and Ipswich at home are all winnable but they would want to be playing at their best and have a few of the players missing today back.

Geez Tweed's FOGS side is rubbish. Wynnum won that one 68-0 today

It was top of the table v bottom of the table so it was always going to be tough for them.

It must be tough at this time of the year getting young blokes to travel to Brisbane or further every second week knowing they are going to get belted. Some past Gold Coast Colts teams have had similar problems, even being unable to field full teams.

When Tugun and Runaway Bay were in the Colts comp in 2005, they won 2 out of 40 games between them (Tugun beat Runaway Bay twice) and had for and againsts of minus 992 and minus 1080 respectively.

Runaway Bay had also played in 2003 and 2004, winning one game each season. They finished minus 1076 in 2004 so they were at least consistent.

Agree with your comment, also don't understand how Marion Seve escapes any charges for some cheap shots on Curtis Scott in the second half push and shove

I thought Curtis Scott sparked that brawl by trying to screw the tackled players head off. He carries on a bit for a young bloke and tends to grab in defence. But the commentators seem to love him.

If he takes Zgrajewski with him, Easts might actually have a chance of winning a premiership.

Having that pair of hotheads (polite term for them) hasn't helped Easts at crucial times in crucial matches for a number of years.

Haha yes well said. Hogan obviously feels he can condede more penalties under Igrebritsen - which Im assuming is why he plays the game...

Woo hoo!! Not only did the Dolphins beat Easts (which is always a good thing), they're on top of the ladder.

Reddy's run to the finals are Ipswich (a), Central (a) & Tweed (h). Should be able to easily beat the latter two but the Jets match will be the difficult one with the defending premiers season on the line.

Wynnum's season pretty much finished today with a lack-lustre performance against Norths. After losing to Mackay a fortnight ago, you would think the Gulls wouldn't be complacent again against a team lower than them in the table.

Norths scored in the first set of the match and every time Wynnum looked likely to get back in the game, they gifted Norths a try through weak defence. The Wynnum forwards, good on paper, were not at all dominant and the defence out wide was terrible at times. To Norths' credit, they ran hard and threw the ball around, obviously trying to show that they were better than their big loss last week.
