I'm comparing our toughest forward pack ever since 1999. Comparisons I'm using are the Grandfinal pack 1999 and 2010 pack. IMO this years pack is ahead of the 2010 pack by a small margin.. Thoughts.

1999
Front Row 8. Chris Leikvoll
Hooker 9. Nathan Brown
Front Row 10. Craig Smith
Second Row 11. Darren Treacy
Second Row 12. Lance Thompson 12. David Barnhill
Lock 13. Wayne Bartrim

2010
Weyman
Fein
Costigan
Creagh
SCOTT
Smith

2018
Graham
Mciness
Vaughan
Frizzell
SIMMS
JDB

Pretty close to each other hey Mickey.

Just my view

Graham 9. Weyman 8.5
McInnes 7. Fein 7.5
Vaughan 9 Costigan 8.5
Frizell 9 Creagh 8
Sims 8.5 . Scott 8.5
JDB 9. Smith 9.5

2018 ever so slightly, on paper

But so many things affect the final result.

Our 2010 backline probably slightly ahead.

Very close hey

2010 Started with Young at Hooker and Fien on the bench ... Edges it in 2010s favour

And who the f**k is this Simms bloke?

My view 2010 vs 2018.

Smith 9 JDB 8
Creagh 8, Sims 7
Scott 7.5, Frizell 8.5
Costigan 7.5, Vaughan 8.5
Young 7.5, McInnes 6.5
Weyman 8, Graham 8

Conclusion; 2010 by a fraction. The 'weakness' is the lack of a second bona fide prop but other than that, it was a fine pack of forwards.

Jimmy, the above totals in 2018 favour, by points or by player choices......

So there's no problem in us winning the minor premiership and premiership then.

Didn’t we have Luke Priddis at hooker till about round 23? Fien broke his leg at the start of the season and Priddis took over before being dropped when Fien was healthy. I remember a quote from someone saying Priddis had already won two premierships so it’s fair.

I didn't say that means we win the comp, but we might!

The back line was probably stronger in 2010 which helped us a lot, and the nrl competition was probably a bit weaker then, whereas now there are many teams around our standard....Panthers, Rorters, Cronulla, Rabbits, Warriors, perhaps Storm and Tigers.

Enjoy the ride.

There will be ups and downs OV, but that's our Dragon's.

Still gotta love them.

Heaps!

Backline was probably stronger?

2010's 1-5 would walk straight into our starting side.

Yes they would, but still ..
Dufty will be a gun, Aitken could end up as good as Coops,
Hunt in front of Hornby,
Widdop in front of Jamie S.(?)

Some positives.

All that you say is true, but as it stands (and remember this is the 2010 versions vs the 2018 versions of these players).

Boyd vs dufty.
I think you're right and dufty could be a phenomenal player. But at the moment he doesn't have the ballplaying that Boyd did in 2010. Boyd was also safe as houses and defensively excellent.

Nightingale vs nightingale.
I liked his old stuff better than his new stuff.

Cooper vs lafai. No contest

Gaz vs aitken. No contest

Bmoz vs Nene. No contest.

At least our halves are better now then, that can lead to more possibilities.....

Oh for sure. A much more creative halves pairing that can play what is in front of them. It means that you can play strong ball runners like aitken as opposed to a centre who creates something out of nothing like Gaz.
