Been waiting for to drop, heard just before round 1 that it was coming. But after so long thought maybe got given a bum steer...

apparently not. Im behind a DT paywall but front page said he's been involved in a nightclub fight and is likely to face charges.

Canberra Raiders, NRL and ACT police investigate Jack Wighton incident
Updated3 April 2018 — 12:08pmfirst published at11:57am

The Canberra Raiders season from hell is getting worse, with star fullback Jack Wighton the subject of an ACT Police investigation after an incident earlier this year.

The Raiders have confirmed Wighton was involved in an incident, believed to have been two weeks before the start of the NRL season.

Jack Wighton is reined in by the Knights' defence.

The club has notified the NRL integrity unit and is working with police after the incident, which is understood to have occurred at a Civic nightclub.

The Raiders will be under pressure to stand down Wighton until the investigation is complete. It would be a huge blow to the Green Machine after losing the first four games of the season.

The Raiders are in danger of slipping to their worst start to a season since 1982 if they lose against the Canterbury Bulldogs on Thursday night.

The Raiders have been aware of the incident involving Wighton but have been waiting for ACT Police to take action. They refused to comment on the incident when contacted in March.

But the club issued a statement on Tuesday, with their season struggling to get going and persistent rumours about Wighton being involved in a fight.

"The Canberra Raiders are aware of an incident involving Jack Wighton and have been cooperating with ACT Policing on their investigation," the Raiders said in a statement.

"The Raiders have notified the NRL Integrity unit and will be not making any further comment as the incident is an ongoing police investigation."

I thought Canberra is a quiet place not much happening after 8:00 pm, Other than the Hellenic club
