That's his skin graft.

His optimism was assuring. Really hope he makes it back and doesn't embarrass himself, would love to be at the game and hear the roar he gets as he returns onto the field.

I'd imagine the demons in his head will be the biggest hurdle to overcome. God knows we sorely missed his speed and skill this year.

Really hope he makes it back and doesn't embarrass himself
with that moustache I think he already has

Hospital staff who have treated Jarahl do not believe the injury will ever recover enough for him to anywhere near good enought to play NRL.

However their assessment has been at odds with the advice from the Broncos staff and Jarahl himself. Todays news seems to give some credence to the hospital view.

Denan Kemp would be feeling rather fortunate right now...

It doesn't sound great for YY though. As optimistic as Hook was trying to be in the interview, it still smells like they're not letting on the whole story.

As much as I can't stand arrogant know-all "insiders" on these forums, AB might be on the money with regard to his recovery chances.

Recovering physically is one thing, but there's also the ability to trust his leg/ankle again. I'm quite sure now that he'll never be the same player he was before the accident(ie contesting bombs, stepping off that leg and regaining his pace), but what remains to be seen is if he can re-invent himself as a footballer.

That's why someone needs to pull YY aside in the off-season and tell him "look, if you wanna keep on playing footy, you need to get your head in the same position it was before your injury. To do that, you need to throw caution and fear to the wolves and run out there and play how you want to play. If your leg is going to break again, it just will and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.".

YY might be different to me; he might be perfectly content running out there, playing it safe but only average. If it were me, I'd wanna be what I used to be no matter the risk.

Conflicting reports. For me I'm not going to draw up a conclusion this early. I am hopeful yow yeh makes a return and successful one at that.

I'm aware of google champ, my point was this hospital staff exists nowhere not even on 'google'

I dont understand the question. The hospital staff exist - they might not be football or sports specialists but they believe he is long odds of gaining enough flexibility in the foot to run at a reasonable level.

I think its reassuring as a supporter to see Jharal's enthusasiam and motivation to comeback. As a sign he's never going to give up. He would of been told that he may never walk, run or play again and been through a hell of a lot mentally which other players would of thrown in the towel but he's still trying. Until last week the signs were good for a early return but then came the setback with swelling and more surgery. I think we've just got to be patient and supportive. There are two other team mates Jordan Kahu and David Hala coming back from career threatening injuries so we should spare a thought for them also.
