Newtown Jets v Wentworthville Magpies
Henson Park, Saturday 1:00
Newtown hosts Wentworthville on Saturday at Henson Park as the Jets hold their annual players, officials and supporters reunion which also marks the 30th anniversary since Newtown won the club championship. This match acts as the curtain raiser to the Premier League match between Newtown and the Bulldogs and the Jets JBC boys will be hoping for a major upset to kick start the days proceedings in a successful manner. Newtown provided tough competition for the Owls last weekend before going down in the later stages of the match whilst Wenty bettered Newtown’s record win over Woy Woy with their own demolition of the Roosters with a 74-4 scoreline. Rob King finds himself as the new hooker for the Magpies replacing Ben Bailey with this being the only change for Wentworthville. Trevor Schodel has made a number of changes for the Jets though for this clash against his ex club and suprisingly has injected himself in to the starting line up at halfback, forming a new halves combination with new five eight Nick Wolfgramm. Last weekends halves though Craig West and Matt Rose see themselves forming a new centers pairing. The last match between these sides saw Wenty end up big winners with a 44 – 18 scoreline though this match should be closer this weekend with this being a big occasion for the Newtown club.

Mono’s Match Of The Round
Sydney Bulls v Ryde-Eastwood Hawks
Potts Park, Saturday 3pm
The Sydney Bulls host Ryde-Eastwood Hawks on Sunday at the Greyhound track and have appeared to return to form with consecutive wins over Wenty and finals contenders St Marys-Penrith following a disappointing loss to Guildford. The Hawks meanwhile have struggled to find consistency winning only one of the last three games, last week losing to Souths Juniors at Mascot Oval. The Bulls must maintain their form if they are to secure a finals berth and have a tough game next week also against fellow finals contenders Guildford at McCredie Oval. The Hawks are currently also not assured of a finals position and are at threat of falling out of the five in remaining weeks, currently only sitting 2 points ahead of the Bulls and three ahead of the Cougars. The last match between these teams resulted in a 34 to 26 victory to the Hawks at Leichardt Oval though the Hawks have since lost their impressive early season form. The only change for the Hawks 13 is the replacement of Dave Wright in the pack by Brendan Sherry at lock. The Bulls also have only one change with Charlie Nohra replacing George Azzi in the front row.

Guildford v Erina Eagles
McCredie Oval, Saturday 6pm
Guildford play host to the ninth placed Eagles at McCredie Oval on Saturday night. Despite defeating the Jets last week, Guildford were disappointing and lacked intensity. Erina will provide a much tougher battle and if their last encounter was anything to go by this will be a beauty. Erina’s team has been maintained after losing 36 - 12 to The Entrance last week. Their performances of late have been inconsistent, winning three of their last five matches. Meanwhile, Guildford have reversed their early season wobbles and have managed three successive victories. Their only change is the inclusion of Peter Bell who has replaced hard working second rower, Scott Prebble. In passing weeks Guildford captain Nathan Carr has been in magnificent try scoring form and Brett Lee has been inspirational down the middle of the park. Guildford are only two wins off the lucrative fifth position and if they win their remaining matches they are slight chance of achieving a remarkable turnaround. Erina are completely out of the finals race and will only be playing to improve their position on the ladder. Guildford simply have more to play for and are consequently branded with the favourites tag.

Windsor Wolves v The Entrance Tigers
Windsor Complex, Saturday 6pm
Windsor host The Entrance and currently only stand a miracle chance of making the finals. The Entrance have continued their impressive winning streak with a large win over the Eagles last weekend whilst Windsor registered a win at home over the Ourimbah Magpies. The last encounter between these sides resulted in a 32-24 win by the Entrance at home, indicating this match will be a competitive clash, considering the Wolves this time hold home ground advantage. Trevor Clark has made no changes to the Wolves line up whilst Jim Beam Colts representative Ryan Hey returns to the starting line up for The Entrance, replacing Kel Portass in the second row. Windsor go into this match as the ‘underdogs’ and will benefit from their strong home support, which has been strong all year and is arguably the largest supporter group in the Jim Beam Cup. The Entrance meanwhile need only one win from the remaining three matches to be assured of the minor premiership though would like to gain further momentum entering the business end of the season.

Woy Woy Roosters v St-Marys Penrith Cougars
Woy Woy Oval, Saturday 4pm
Woy Woy have been woeful recently, recording two mammoth losses against Newtown and Wentworthville. With little to play for Woy Woy should find it difficult to contain a desperate sixth placed St Marys outfit. St Marys will field the same side which was comprehensively defeated by Sydney Bulls last weekend. This match could provide points-scoring machine, Jono Rolfe with an opportunity to considerably add to his staggering total. However, throughout the season Woy Woy have managed to pull off noticeable victories when least expected. The loss of centre Steve Thomas will have a detrimental affect on the chances of Woy Woy coming up with yet another shock victory. St Marys find themselves one point off fifth position and with a little luck could they could be placed in the top five. Despite the lengthy travel the St Marys side will be confident of securing the two competition points but must be wary of a potentially lethal Woy Woy outfit.

Souths Juniors v Ourimbah Magpies
Coogee Oval, Sunday 3pm
Ourimbah will travel to Coogee Oval aiming to considerably improve their last performance against Souths, where the scoreboard read 67 - 4. Last week Souths Juniors recorded a great 14 point victory over Ryde Eastwood. Like numerous other sides Souths have found themselves in the middle of an interesting finals race. A victory against Ourimbah will consolidate their strong position on the table and put them in great stead to be there finals time. On the other hand, Ourimbah have crashed to tenth position on the ladder after losing back to back matches. Tricky Trindall has added attacking flare for the Souths side since his inclusion and it will be interesting to see how he works with new five-eighth Joel Taufaao. The return of Garth Wood out wide will also bolster the chances of a Souths Juniors victory. Ourimbah captain-coach Scott Wilson has once again been selected on the bench to provide experience and versatility, while Jason Bell will need to maintain his impressive form if the Central Coast side wish to rule supreme against their Sydney rivals.
