Former Tigers great and league administrator Kevin Humphreys has passed away in Sydney's inner west this morning at the age of 80.
Humphreys had been battling diabetes for several years and recently lost both legs as a result of the illness.
The former NSWRL chairman spent the last months of his life at a nursing home in Gladesville, where he passed away yesterday.
Between 1973-83 he was the most powerful man in the game as chairman of the NSWRL, ARL and the International Board.
During a turbulent reign he co-founded State of Origin but was also named in the Four Corners program The Big League, which detailed allegations of corruption in rugby league and led to a Royal Commission.
His son, Stephen Humphreys, is now CEO of the Wests Tigers.
