What a flogging, even at half strength the might of NSW is just too much.
They moved all the games to a few concentrated venues to save money, both for CA and nine. it won't change.
CA's spin on the length of the tournament was that it simulates what happens at the world cup although it's likely the real reason was to accommodate a longer big bash.
Twiz where are your usual anti GOAT posts?. ..
Yes or no Australia's best spinner?
No, he's not. But there's also no one who's massively better. The two best are SOK and Lyon by some margin IMO, and both are really one dimensional. SOK probably has more natural variation, but he does turn it a bit less than Lyon. Neither have a great change up ball....Ashwin for example has his carom ball and a lot of variations of his off breaks, but both SOK and Lyon have an off break and an arm ball and that's pretty much it.
If he is Australia's best ever off spinner then Ricky Ponting is Australia best ever test captain
Did well this game, impressive. But has let us down many a time when conditions were suited for him
If not for politics or injury, SOK would have played more tests and performed better IMO
Hey, Lyon's got the Jeff, also known as a pie.
Yes he bowls the available options for a offie who doesn't chuck it
Neither are Haurie.
Mate, I'm a 2nd grade all rounder who bowls seam over spin and even I have one that goes the other way, surely a truly top level off spinner can sort something out ffs....Ashwin doesn't chuck it and he has loads of variations. Lyon is rigidly one dimensional, simple as that.
Haurie is no Jason Krezja
I remember when Lyon reached 17 tests (same as Haurie)
The stats were errily similar in almost all areas
Maybe Haurie could have been our best ever offie?
Tbh I could never understand why they dropped Krezja so early. 12 wickets in his first Test...granted he leaked a few more runs than you'd like but you can forgive that on debut, in India, against a cracking Indian side. He was still MOTM in a comfortable loss. Then they picked him at the WACA for some reason, he got pasted (who could possibly have predicted that!) and was consigned to obscurity. Deserved a bit of a chance IMO
Lyon bowled beautifully today, and while he's probably not in the top echelon of spinners Australia have produced, I reckon he's probably better than some second grade nuffy,
yeh, one decent Matador Cup game and he is the greatest spinner ever
Come on mate he's the GOAT!!
