Move the Boxing Day Test to Etihad Stadium!

The Boxing Day Test should move to Etihad Stadium where the roof is. The past 3 Boxing Day tests have had rain delays. If the Boxing Day Test would move to Etihad Stadium then there wouldn't be any rain delays if the roof was shut. Big Bash works at the ground perfectly fine. Test matches in Perth are moving to the new stadium, why can't Melbourne.

Boxing Day at Etihad Stadium = A full days play & no rain disruptions

That will make the players and spectators a lot more excited rather waiting hours for rain.

as much as that makes sense it wont happen, too much tradition and financially wouldn't be as attractive. The first two days pre sales are huge being the bigger ground

What they could consider doing, Is having two tests in Melbourne (on years where we have 6 test summer)

We basically had a washout in the SCG test last year, do we think about moving that as well?

I think MCG and SCG test stay exactly as it is. We can tinker with the other venues with things such as D/N tests and moving grounds

Last year's SCG washout was the first since MCG 1993/94 vs South Africa. At least 100 domestic tests inbetween.

The odd day has been lost but in general the weather is usually ok.

well it is a drop in so all they have to do is put it on a semi and drive it down the road

Biggest issue is not potential weather, it's the drop in pitches. Cricket Victoria need to grow a pair for the sake of the game.

Tests have only been regularly played there on boxing day since 1980 so it's not that traditional

it seems the SS match between Vic and NSW that was played there on boxing day was more traditional

Rain happens, cricket is an outdoors sport. You deal with it. Keep the roof for the hit and giggle.
