you ave nfi

it's because of the way the deal was done and Smith going rogue

they can't play footy 5 days a week like last year as it has too many clubs doing short turnarounds so Monday had to be shifted to Friday because of the introduction of Thursday games

Sunday 6.30pm works too. 6pm Friday was done purely for Fox to be selfish

and how do you figure that?

You mean apart from Telstra and fox paying less for nrl than afl? Fox getting simucast and a Friday exclusive game damaging fta, telstra getting a $10mill comp naming rights basically for free, nrl agreeing to a sht game time schedule, news ltd publicly bagging the nrl and getting away with it. Sounds a pretty sweet deal to me.

Where did you get these figures From? NRL ,got $1.8bill from fox, nine and Telstra
Afl got $2.5bill from their Australian media sales. NRL has not announced how much of its deal is contra.

Effectively we got '$360mill to afl $416mill a year from Australian media sale

You can paint it how you like but for the countries top tv sport to have got $56mill a year (more than enough to expand and have a ninthngame to sell) was a sht deal.

We had them, $925mill from nine in the bank, $150mill from telstra without naming rights (worth$50mill) was reasonable then hit fox for $1bill ish for a $2.2bill tv deal, was what should have ended up with. Smith did a great job in bagging a massive increase from nine, but arlc caved in to news ltd pressure so we never got to see how he would have handled them. Read the telegraph from that month, they hit him with everything and the commision buckled, weak as pss.

NRL scarified money to have 3 digital partners compared to the AFL's 1.

The AFL signing for six years would have bumped up there media deal somewhat, they also gave Fox 10 of the best FTA games including the WA, SA Derbys to get the price they got.

The AFL also has that 9th game to sell which they are loosing a truck load of cash on.

Yet when it comes to media deals the gap keeps on closing.

Channel 9 paid massive under's even with SOO.

Dont feel sorry for 9 guys. Fox paid the lion share and gave the game our own League channel.

all those figures show is how sht a deal we got for the Most watched sport on tv. Telstra got a steal, fox got a steal, nine got a steal and we got shafted in scheduling

Oh but it's ok because we closed the gap to just $30odd million ayear lol .

Doesn't the AFL have more games, more minutes per game and way more ad breaks than NRL? They also have teams in all capital cities which would be more attractive to broadcasters.

True but we have the most eyes and soo which should counter balance those. For fox and Telstra length of game matters little, it's how many subscribers that it attracts that counts.

The ninth game and lack of capital city exposure is our own fault and needs to be fixed.

NRL Thursday night national total pay & fta 979K
AFL Thursday night national total pay & fta 1061 Mill

pretty average for both TBH
I'd be hoping we crack 1 million tonight with the broncos involved , although the Raiders are a small regional club so it might not get there too
