Here is a thread to discuss the Premier League/ NSWRL Cup competition for 2008.

There is going to be confusion when clubs are listed as "Penrith/Windsor" because the post is written from the assumption that Penrith have a team in the comp and thus if Craig Trindall has been released by Penrith it is written as if Windsor have released him when I would be very surprised if Windsor dont follow up their signing of Lee Hopkins and adam Schubert with Tricky. In that case Trindall would be a gain rather a loss.

Windsor are not in the position of St Marys who paid half the cost of the cougars but had no say in players contracted or selections. That is the primary reason why St Marys pulled the pin. Windsor have appointed the coach of their choice, there will be no hybrid name and they will select the teams. No doubt the majority of Windsor's P/L team will come from Penrith's 32 man squad but if Windsor do sign Trindall and he starts in Jim Beam with Hopkins, I have no doubt they will be playing P/L by round 4 and the guys that Elliott has payed big money for will have to play in a different position.

I am surprised that Penrith have given part time contracts to another 9 players. Unless there are a lot injuries/suspensions, most of these guys could spend a lot of time in A Grade.

Pat Rosser (St George) has signed with Sydney Bulls.

Luke Branighan left Tolouse last June and played with Cabramatta prior a season ending injury.

can anyone close to the Wentworthville club shead any light on what's happening with the Parramatta merger and any necessary details surrounding it like a team list of any sort??

The only thing I'm aware of are the following.

* The coach will be Rip Taylor

* They will wear a similar designed strip to the NRL side but with the traditional Wenty colours of black and white.

* They'll play out at Ringrose park

* Now this is the puzzling bit, Parra will provide 11 contracted to players in the side while Wenty will provide a further 11, the question I would like to know is who are these 11 players?????

Any info would be greatly appreciated as it appears that my own club doesn't really give a stuff about providing that information on their website.

I'm quite sure the club assumes no Eels fans care about "Reserve Grade"...

In terms of the colours / name -- they'll be playing in Black and White as the Magpies?

Ta... I'm surprised at that as I was sure the deal Uncle Fitzy put to the other JBC feeder clubs was that if they entered the JV it would be to play as "Parramatta Eels".

Oh well, it'll be nice to go back to Ringrose Park again - lovely little ground.

I would of actually negotiated incorporated Parramatta into the name..ie Wentworthville-Parramatta Magpies.

So Wenty will lose their traditional jersey? I suppose there would be a problem when they play Wests Magpies.

The Dragons have signed 2007 Premier League top-tryscorer Mark Hendy from Western Suburbs, along with Joe Falemaka and Jardine Bobongie from Norths, Alex Ranieri from Penrith.

Has it been confirmed that the Dragons will be playing these guys in the Illawarra comp, or will they have a team in PL?

Hey Girvie,

feel free to let us know of any second tier parr-Wenty signings, we always seem to be the last to know. ;-)

As far as I know, the Illawarra Competition -- but my source is a thread on here nothing else. I understand Newcastle is doing similar with Charlestown in the Newie RL.

Ridiculous arrangements if true. I predict it'll all end in tears.

I haven't heard about anyone yet. I guess they might be looking to play some of their better JBC players a chance in PL.

Do you know what these players are doing for next year?

The proposal is for Central Charlestown to play in the Premier League (bolstered by all the full time Knights not selected in NRL) not to play in the Newcastle comp.

I haven't heard about anyone yet. I guess they might be looking to play some of their better JBC players a chance in PL.

Do you know what these players are doing for next year?

Grehan, Latimore and Maloney are definites..

not sure about Alfie or Jimmy, I hear Jimmy may take up boxing.

I've heard that all Wests Tigers contracted players won't be going to Balmain next year, so the Magpies should get their juniors back like Rocky Trimarchi and Stuart Flanagan.

They should be a big impover.
