We would probably have had to release Gutherson, along with a couple of others.

True. Comes down to strong spine vs strong squad argument. Are we weaker without Gutho but replaced with Kirisome Auva'a ?

Do we lose Tepai but play cheaper merkins like Brown or even nobodies ?

I doubt we'd have Norman, Brown or Matagi if Foran was still at the club. That's were his $1.2 million has gone

League: Police in Sydney checking on Warrior Kieran Foran's phone

Kieran Foran was stopped by New South Wales police at Sydney Airport last Saturday, as he arrived with the Warriors ahead of their round four match against the Dragons.

The high profile Warriors recruit, who has been embroiled in off field issues in the past year, was taken to an interview room and after a brief meeting was asked to hand over his mobile phone, which has been retained by NSW police.

It is expected to be returned this week.

Foran has regularly returned to Australia to spend time with his two young children since moving to Auckland in November.

It's understood he wasn't stopped at Sydney Airport on any previous trip this year, although he went through the same procedure during a visit late last year.

Foran has admitted to a significant gambling problem in the past, and has been in the spotlight due to his close friendship with former Sydney brothel owner Eddie Hayson.

Hayson has been associated with a raft of organised crime and underworld figures, and linked with some huge wagers on NRL games, which are part of the NSW Crime Commission investigation into existing allegations of match fixing on NRL games in 2015 and 2016.

Warriors managing director Jim Doyle is unconcerned by last Saturday's incident.

"We recently spent more than seven hours meeting with the NRL integrity unit who went through all of Kieran's bank statements, phone records and betting accounts, and he was cleared," said Doyle.

"I can guarantee that if Kieran was involved in anything, he would not have been registered to play. I have spoken to the NRL and nothing has changed from their point of view.

"There is an ongoing investigation into Eddie Hayson, and Kieran has been questioned by association," said Doyle. "It's a random thing that every now and again might happen. They asked him a few questions and took his phone."

Doyle added that it was a similar scenario during the long running ASADA investigation into drugs in sport, when some Cronulla Sharks players had their phones seized after they re-entered Australia.

Doyle also said he has received an undertaking from NSW police that Foran's name will be taken off their list of potential airport arrival interviewees.

Injury turns to boredom turns to old habits and then the inevitable depression. Would you rather have Foran or Moses and Gutherson? About the same price.

The NRL’s integrity unit has started formal interviews with club officials of the Manly Sea Eagles, as pressure mounts on the club over alleged salary cap breaches.

While conducting investigations into allegations of match fixing, NSW police uncovered revelations that a number of Manly players took cash payments, which are against NRL salary cap rules.

During Strike Force Nuralda's long-running investigation, police found that there was a widespread trade of club insiders revealing secret information to known gamblers which is a criminal offence punishable by up to two years in jail. However, no charges will be laid because there is a six-month limitation from the date of the alleged offences taking place.

A Fairfax Media report revealed that senior Manly officials initially refused to hand over their personal computers to the NRL integrity unit saying they weren’t bound by law to do so. But the club eventually caved to the requests, allowing the NRL’s investigative arm to look through thousands of documents, computer records and information downloaded from the mobile phones of club officials.

One club official to be interviewed is Manly legend Bob Fulton who stepped down from his role this week as a consultant, after spending 50 years with the club as a player, coach and official.

Fulton explained his departure from the club to News Corp saying that "the club is now in great shape and it was the right time."

It is not suggested Fulton was involved in any wrongdoing.

It’s also being reported that former Manly sponsor Robby Melhem had allegedly supplied cocaine and prostitutes to some players in addition to making cash payments to Sea Eagles players, which is in direct breach of salary cap rules.

Fairfax Media reported that Melhem held regular private parties for Manly players and provided cocaine during festivities.

Melhem was charged in August this year for being involved in a drug syndicate.

The former mobile phone entrepreneur and property developer was arrested by police after he allegedly sold cocaine to an undercover police officer at Sydney Olympic Park.

Detectives later found 22kg of cocaine in an apartment Melhem’s syndicate rented in the inner Sydney suburb of Pyrmont.

So some merkins who have come out and said that the police cleared the NRL are pulling their dicks.
