Roots decision to bowl first was clinically geniused and shades of Ponting in England doing the same 5 mins after McGrath rolled his ankle.

Smith’s was more line ball. The ball went mental and didn’t the first 2 days, he wouldn’t have expected that much movement. We should still do them comfortably.

At the moment smith is batting as well as any of the names you’ve listed and has been doing it for a couple of years. I always thought his technique wouldn’t stand up over time, but you can’t deny his numbers. His eye is brilliant.

The pommies are a bit shite, but you can only beat who’s in front of you, they were also rubbish through the halcyon days of Warne, McGrath etc.
