Our Club Vs the rest

As a dragons supporter i am very used to the club making grand finals, every few years, and our record is up there with the very best ever. Yet we have clowns from other clubs who call us chokcers and what not.

There is a few things all other supporters must remember when calling another team names.

a) Make sure your club has a better record. Or equal enough too it.
b) Produce facts, not jibes. as Jibes are exactly that.

85, 92, 93, 96 The Team was by no means a Premiership threat, yet made the Grand final against superior opposition in all those Grand finals.

Our Club was able to take average to good squads to Grand finals. in 99 we were just unlucky. We got out penalised in the 2nd half of the game to Murdochs Melbourne Storm. We played fantastic that game. the Storm had 80% ball in the 2nd half thanks to billyboy. Yet we only lost it in the last few minutes.

I was extremely proud of the guys that game. we should have lost by 30.

It was the only game we should have won before it was played. We took the Dogs to the wire in 85, the broncos to the wire in 93, and Manly got away with blue murder in 96, but they were unbeatable in 96.

THese are not excuses but facts. Look them up.

Our club can make ordinary teams play with pride. Consistently.

Okay.

a)

Cronulla vs Illawarra Stain George

8 wins, 3 losses, one draw.

In your five year history we have finished ahead on the table four times. We have a Minor Premiership, you have a Grand Final capitulation.

Fact: Our record is better than yours.

Good for them. That team was the St George Dragons though. They no longer exist, so it doesnt count.

And yet in another thread you come up with this

1985 - CHOKE
1992 - CHOKE
1993 - CHOKE
1996 - CHOKE
1999 - CHOKE
2001 - Ex coach applies everything he learned at the Dragins to GF with Parramatta - CHOKE
2002 Flegg - CHOKE
2002 Divvy - CHOKE
2003 Arrive Alive Cup - Coach and players from St George infect an otherwise successful side - CHOKE
2003 Harold Matthews - CHOKE

Where will it end?

Seems you change your position on an issue more often then the scum change their jersey.

Not really. The post you refer to describes the effect that the St George name has on teams contesting Grand Finals.

The St George Dragons had a long and distinguished history of Grand Final failure prior to their death. This is why St George Illawarra will never amount to anything - the old St George ghosts of failure will continue to haunt them.

60 years? Getting a bit desperate now, aren't you?

In 1999 you had $8m worth of players. Surely the biggest indicator of your club's ability is not that you made the Grand Final, but that you still managed to get beaten!!

What can you say about a team that attempts a field goal when they're 60-something points behind?
And then their supporters think it was good tactic.

I can't agree with you on '85 StgIllaman. We were the best side all year. We won the minor premiership and defeated Canterbury in the major semi.

Poor old Glenn Burgess - C*nterbury bombed the shit out of him that day...

I'm glad the rule has changed.

Cheers,
Ben S.

Yes, in fact it was Farrar that bombed the shit out of Glen Burgess. Then kicked the winning field goal.

Thank god he is out of our club.

Seems as though Jimbo has removed the embarrassing pic at the bottom of his posts. I guess thats an admission that the Sharks dismal year made that look tame in comparison........
