Our need for a half

We need a quality half and quick

Hokko - He goes through the motions but to have him there you need basically a top 5 half
CT - This was his year to see if he is a dominant half, he is best as the foil he was this to Maloney and even Johnson at Warriors
Moylan - Tonight showed how much better he is when he has time, playing in the halves he does not get the time, unless his partner is a dominant half.

So the mix of that 3 just dont work, the only way Hokko/CT might work is 5 game breaking outside backs we do have that but not all fit.

Where do we go

Flanno Jnr - Does dad take a punt and give him a crack at running the show, and if he does not sure how CT would adjust to being basically told he is not the best half in the club.

We have money left in cap for this year, do we throw it at a half is not wanted at another club.

Going through teams there is only one Blake Austin in reggies at Raiders has struggled for form not best defender but can attack.

The question is we cant score no creativity in halves Flanno sooner then later needs to pull the trigger on something otherwise the season will be gone

There’s a show on at the movies “A Quiet Place”. You mustn’t make a sound or you get attacked.

You just made a sound about Chad.

Local junior. Premiership winner. Hair model.

Nobody was listening to him before kickoff.

“Now before we do this, let's go over the ground rules. Rule number one! No touching of the hair or face”.

If ya haven’t got a good half by now, ya not getting 1.
That is the truth. in 2016 Chad was the third point of attacking creativity. This season he is very clearly running the team. He is steady without really ever worrying defensive lines. Same with Brailey. The game is more attacking based now and we have far too little variety in our attack.

Can Flanno jnr develop into a quality half? Can't say right now but either way we get nowhere near enough out of Chad and Hodko to score decent points. 7 tries in 5 games tells the story.

Half or play maker? Because the coach got sucked into making a trade last year and it's clearly not working. They have to stick it out now.

In this structure Chad is the main playmaker. 7 tries in 5 games. Not even close to good enough. Not all on him but he needs to aim up.

We had a half.. A very good one. We let him go. Unfortunately we're going nowhere with Townsend as our only 'play maker.'

Chad is a half. He ain’t a playmaker. He is there to direct.
Does anyone think that Blake green is a playmaker?? You can’t have two playmaker so or two halves.
Balance is needed.
Trent and chad are both halves.
At the donkeys, Milford and nikoruma are both playmakers. The broncos stink this year.

Chad is not the problem. He has his job to do and does it very well.

The recruitment is the problem. Mythlan should not of been brought in as the 5/8 solution. He had no runs on the board as a 5/8. He had little to offer as a fullback either IMO. He doesnt give for 80 minutes. He’s opportunistic and sits back and waits for saloon passages. He doesnt do much graft at all.

Back to recruitment

Flanno did an impulse buy out of panic. Had no fullback at the time. Put his eggs in the Felix basket.

Then, of course, TPP and Duges become available. Duges first. I believe he was signed to play fullback from the day the ink dried. Of course, then we all got to see the Duges/Val combo in the World Cup. I think this swayed Flanno again leaving him without a fullback. TPP becomes available. Great!! A fullback option. By this stage it’s all confused and it shows.

Next problem, if he goes TPP at the back, Felix/Duges on a flank side there is suddenly no freakin 6.

Enter FJ. Fast track the kid. But that’s risky so needs insurance. Cool, no problem, we’ll chase Myth Piss. But that fails and all that is left is Hodko.

I think Pissflap is conflicted. Doesn’t know if he wants to be everyone’s mate, doesn’t know if he should do what The Mean Girls want and doesn’t know if he should make hard choices and do what’s best for the club.

I sense rust

He has to stick and decide

Best backline is clearly

TPP
Felix
Doogs
Ramien
Katoa
FJ/Hodko/purchase
Coifee

But it’s 100/1 odds that he drops Feki and Loots

Moylan was bought as fullback, the plan was to get Pearce as well. Missing him messed everything up. Not the best planning by Flanno.

Really unfortunate to have missed Pearce.

This side will not function without a ball-playing, quick (in feet and head), 5/8.

Should offer Austin the mermaids

He probably would fit the bill if we had Moylan at fb and Chad at half. Not sure of his ball playing though, seems more of a runner.

Well, it doesn't help that our execution is off. We have scored only 7 tries, but we have dropped about 7 as well, most of which were not too hard, and we could easily have won another game or two by just catching the ball.

But we don't look like a flash side even if we catch it. We look awful when we drop it. We don't have many options though, really just need to keep our defence and discipline up, and hope we catch it. We will win more than we lose if our execution improves. Not a premiership winning proposition though, but we need to recruit some more strike for that.

Liked what I saw from Flan jnr in the trial game. He looked sharp and super competitive. Perfect to blood him with a 5/8 like ... say... Maloney...
