Another 2 tries for one Alex Johnstone! He's going to look great on the opposite wing of Nene McDonald in 2018.

IMO Dragons will park Nightingale at FB next year for 12 months until one of Field or Dufty are ready for FG.

2018
1. Nightingale
2. Johnstone
3. Lafai
4. Aitken/ Mann
5. McDonald

6. Widdop
7. Hunt

14. Field/Mann/Aitken

If we dont sign him it means the Sharks will have over paid for him..Dragons have an offer into his management - take that as read!
Sharks or tigers?

Having a speedster outside of Lafai would be something to watch, as long as it doesn't mean we lose Mann or Lafai.

Warming to the idea Mickey and runs like a rabbit. Ordinary attempt of a tackle though.

Im 50/50 re Johnston. Yeah he has speed to burn but his defense is horrible.
In saying that so was Lafai's last year but he has really improved in that area fhis year.
Maybe for Johnston its a confidence thing or maybe just laziness but if he does sign with us its an area he woyld need to work on in the off season.
The other point here is if Johnston is signed it would definitely mean the exit door for Milne IMO.

Signing AJ would be detrimental to the development of our juniors, Herbert, Garrick ,Lomax, the easiest pathway is via the wing which he will occupy, fullback we have Field, Dufty and Marsters and he potentially blocks them as well if he takes the number 1 spot...

Doesnt block anyone.

Its called competition for spots on the team.

The strongest survive.

Darwins theory.

Though he actually said those who adapt the best will survive!

100% agreed. While I like Johnston on the wing as a finisher, he is no more than that. Defensively he is woeful. We will end up losing guys like Garrick, Thompson, Herbert if we pick Johnston up. Besides, we save money if we look to our juniors, and If they fail next year, hit the market in 2018 for better wingers like Vunivalu, Mansour or Oates.

Then who is? Apparently all the talk is about Johnston.
I doubt Cody Walker will leave Souths, they'll sort his contract out, they need him.
Johnston offered a contract for certain up to him to accept it.
Also Dragons looking at Lussick and Lillyman - so whoever posted in here we should be looking at Lillyman - well we are!!

We have a truck load of juniors equal to the speed of Mr rabbit just need to give them a run and most of them can tackle .guys like Stanley Gorton and Nathan Blacklock were not tackling machines we had them for their speed and finishing prowess.
