Over rated artists

Pearl Jam. A couple of good songs but the rest are really average. Although I do love the way they became anti-establishment in a calculated move to sell more records without anybody noticing.

I genuinely want to cry now.

I personally think the more commercialised songs like Alive and Daughter are tedious. But I like Evenflow, and two of my favourite ever songs are Black and Rearviewmirror.

Where are my tissues...

My list is extensive.
Here goes.

Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes
AC/DC - the Brian Johnson years
The Who
Bruce Springsteen
Any American mid/late 1970s band such as Chicago, Toto, Aerosmith, Kiss, Styx, Foreigner, The Eagles and so on and so on ad infinitum.
Faux punk bands such as The Ramones, Green Day, Blink-182, Pennywise, etc.
Nickleback and Creed - everybody's most over rated bands
Air Supply

That's Part 1 of 216 - and yes, I don't like these bands because they are over rated.

Creed and Nickleback, yuck. I'd rather eat human filth than listen to them.

I have to say Greenday

They either have good songs (mostly all from Dookie) or really annoying songs. I think they have more of the latter now...

Early stuff I liked. Seriously liked. Now they are seriously commercialised tripe. Happy with something like Hitchin a Ride, but from there ... nup. American Idiot both as a single and an album is rubbish.

I didn't start to appreciate the Rolling Stones until I was in my late 30s, youse will run out of other stuff to listen to at some point and go back. Only their tryhard hippie music is bad. They have a huge amount of great songs imo and can't be called overrated. They still tour in their 70s ffs

I like Angie and Paint it Black, not a fan of the rest of their stuff.

Angie is a classic, the only Rolling Stones song I have on my iPod. Paint It Black is a great song by them too. I used to like Start It Up when it was released but can honestly say now I don’t really like it now.

I just found them boring for the longest time, I didn't mind Barnsey's solo stuff at the time tho. Mum was always a fan.

Pretty much this.

I was always more of a Beatles fan then a Stones fan, but the last few 10 years or so all Stones.

Virtually every album 70s album is great. Exile on Main Street, Sticky Fingers are particularly good.

Pearl Jam are one of my favourite bands so I can’t agree with the overrated tag. Put on awesome shows too.

I agree but it's not hard to hear why a lot of people don't like his singing

I saw Bowie at the SCG in 1978 and compared to his studio recordings, his voice was weak and somewhat flat.

It's amazing what you can do in a studio.

In saying that, he is still one of my favourite artists of all time.

They do have their moments like Nothingman and Oceans. They are just held in such high regard, much higher than Soundgarden in my network of friends, which I find bizarre.

Bowie was a great singer
A peculiar sounding voice, but as far as singing in key etc he was brilliant.

For me, he had no range to his voice.

I'm not knocking him - he's one of the best all-around artists ever, and I truly enjoy his body of work.

But he was pretty average imo.

Jack White

Whilst I don't hate, or even dislike, the guy, the way some music journos and reviewers claim him to be the messiah of music in the 21st century is perplexing to me. I reckon the guy could release a track of 2 pigs f**king and your resident triple j hipster dj would call it the greatest piece of music in history...
