Hey guys can you take the time to read this opinion piece and in particular the comments from our 'friends' across the tasman.

This was on the day they buried the poor guy.
Not worth giving that shit the time of day. The wider cricket community (regardless of race, gender, whatever) has been great. Including the Black Caps and most kiwi's in general. There's always the odd dickhead on either side of the pond, best to just ignore this sort of shite.

Wow, what a tosser. He is certainly in a minute minority though. Most Kiwis have been very classy about the whole sorry situation.

With all due respect to Phillip Hughes, I'm sure he's a top bloke, but to have media saturation for two weeks and a state funeral for a fringe player is over indulgent. I am sure if someone like Dean Jones passed away , a state funeral would not be held.

It's because of his age and the way that he died.

If Dean Jones passed away, people would be sad, but they'd say 'hmphh?life hey?' and move on. He's in his 50's. Would be premature, but not shocking. Black arm bands. A moment silence. Move on.

Hughes was 25 and he died in the middle of the pitch. It's the combination of those 2 things that have really gripped people

btw- terrible article, the one reference in post #741. I think Twizzle is right/- hasn't played cricket, doesn't understand cricket, doesn't like cricket

An absolute merkin that bloke.

And the half page dig at Clarke in particular is as about as low as one can get, particularly at this point in time.

A good old saying!!

Hughes was held in great esteem,& rightly so!!

He was an outstanding talent on the cricket field & a damn great fella to boot!
Back to that saying,abovementioned.

Anthony Mundine was a very close mate of Phil Hughes & only one of a selected few who were at his bedside when he passed on.Anthony is held in high regard by the Hughes' family. He flocks together with the Hughes's.

He was to have dinner with Phil that coming Thursday evening after Phil died.

We tend to "love to hate" Anthony but in truth he is a very generous & loving individual.Hughes was adulated, celebrated & we were all saddened by his passing.

Mundine was close to being Phil's best mate.I don't think Phil would have related to Anthony unless he felt Anthony was special.Anthony cops heaps of crap for his antics but I reckon his perceived big-headed behaviour is just pretend---he is laughing all the way to the bank!!

On another thread Anthony is being belittled as a fighter & boxer. The truth is;he is an outstanding athlete & a good bloke to boot.

"Birds of a feather flock together."

Well said Doyen.

Thanks mate!

Mundine presents at times like a goose but he is far,far better than that.

He is a good, intelligent human being & an extremely great all-round athlete.

It says something that Hughesy;a quiet type of fella who was held in very high regard, closely befriended an extrovert as Mundine!

The pair were very close mates!!!
