Playing for ZERO points?

So you're advocating a change of salary cap regulations that has been initiated because of about 3-5 executives committing illegal fraud, even though the other 15 clubs apparently have no problems sticking to the rules?

If it's any consolation, I'm relieved to hear you won't be wasting anymore of our time.

A couple of things to consider.

The NRL have publicly satated that had the Storm breaches been uncovered pre season steps could have been put in place to rectify the playing roster in 2010 and therefore avert any future penalties other than the retrospective ones issued.

That being the case, we are now 7 rounds into the competition. We know what was paid to whom and when. Surely then, within the space of a couple of weeks of this being uncovered the playing roster could have been adjusted accordingly to get they Storm back under the cap in 2010.

The option of moving one or two players to other NRL clubs is difficult as this may create salary cap issues there. The option of having them play in the UK has has been touted in the media makes more sense especially if the Storm were made to honour their contracts in 2010.

The fact is, playing for nothing has dudded the fans who should not be penalised for this. There's 19 odd rounds to go for the Storm to make the finals on merit even if they start at 0.

thats the problem imo, they should not be allowed to make the finals with the team that they have put together illegally

I would only consider them making the finals if they shed players and were instantly under the cap which is virtually impossible with the current mess

Thats a good point but realistically how long would it take to fix that mess and get them under the cap if the UK were an option. From memory, the Bulldogs had a basic plan within 3 weeks. Even if it took 4, 5 or 6 the fans are turning up for nothing and the players will likely drop the bundle after rep season beacuse at the moment thats all they have to really play for.

Say we get it fixed by round 10. Their chances of making the finals from there starting from zero are remote at best but not impossible. At least it's something for the fans to hold their hopes on.

You're talking as if you can send players anywhere. Thats a draft.

And there's been a court case that says that's illegal.

ALthough with the Players Association getting bolshy, maybe its time for the NRL to mention the word Draft to them again.

I can't see how they can shed any player and get under the cap this year. Surely the contracts would have to be paid out.

I think the Storm are going to struggle to sort this mess out in time for next years comp.

Maybe if they were stripped to minus 40 or something than whatever they finish on they start next year on? Bad idea?
