Whare (rumoured) instead of Aitkin.
Much stronger defensively.

Forget conjecture. I can basically guarantee that, injury not withstanding, this will be the 2018 round one lineup:

Dufty
Nightingale
Lafai
Aitken
MacDonald
Widdop
Hunt
Vaughan
McInnes
Graham
Thompson
Frizzell
De Belin

Sims
Ah Mau
Mann
Token 20s/Cup forward

There it is. Done. Close this thread.

Thread's alive and well until we've sorted the backline out for McPrice.

If Nene doesn't show improvement early he should be dropped, especially with Hunt being able to provide better opportunities and kicks.
Same could be said for Aitken, needs to improve D and passing game but he is a potent runner.

Nighty can't improve, he will only get slower, he shouldn't even be considered if they're serious, it's 2018 (nearly) not 2010 FFS. Mann should replace him on the Wing.

Field should be coached into a half, Wing FB utilty and used as a strike weapon off the bench.

There it is. Done.
You're welcome.

Yep, thats the team, no doubt.
And that is the weakest backline in the comp. Literally. 16th best backline. Or worst backline if you like. #idontratethatbackline

we're definitely top 8 material with graham and hunt added to our roster.

our backline looks weak, we need two quality wingers & maybe a gun centre, if we want to challenge for the top 4.

IN MILLWARD WE TRUST.. #REDV

I see that team also, with Lawrie or Sele the last bench spot.
Hunt and Widdop will bring out the best of our backs, and Graham and Vaughan, along with JDB and Frizz and Thomo will ensure our go forward is happening for 80 mins.
We will start 2018 on fire, the challenge is getting the boys to do a melbourne storm and continue the form for 26 rounds.

Nene should be let go as he has not worked out at all , he does not hit the line at all and is slow of the mark. Also it is time to give Nightingale a tap on the shoulder, even thou he is a legend now is the time.
I dont know who is the pick of the young crop as I have not seen them play but its time to bring them into first grade.

I think much will depend on the draw we cop
If we have a hard draw early he will be extremely conservative especially since the back end of 2017 was so abysmal.
We have signed Flo and he said Mann must have a spot in the starting side because of what he brings to the team
so I suspect both will be starting players.
Won't be surprised to see this backline all brought to you by Mc Fookknuckle Inc
Pensioner
Lead Boots
Can't Pass
Brain Explosion
Utility boy
Am I the captain?
Wayne said I'm a hooker
The starting forwards pick themselves so it's just the bench
Sims
Lam
Host (willl be dropped around rd 6 to re blood someone else Sele, Lawrie)
Then it's a choice of a back or another forward
The caveat is if we buy any journeymen they will be elevated above existing bench players and Kerr.
