Yeah. But many players would. He needs to get that pass a bit earlier.

You're right, it's a pressure ball which 9 times out of 10 doesn't need to be thrown. It's hard to imagine that after a full two seasons they still can't get that right.

Its a Taylor pet play. It's already being used less.

Canterbury coach Des Hasler insists his side is yet to sign either Aaron Woods or Kieran Foran for the 2018 NRL season.

The off-contract duo have been linked to the Bulldogs in the past week, as part of the player merry-go-round consuming the NRL.

But Hasler said any deals concerning the pair at his club were yet to be finalised and that he was far from certain he would secure both stars with negotiations still ongoing.

"No contracts have been signed, so there is no agreement with those players," Hasler said.

"I'm sorry to say they haven't signed here and there are no contracts here.

"There have been some discussion with their managements. So far they have been fairly positive but that's all that's been."

Woods had his contract offer pulled by Wests Tigers on Friday after he and fullback James Tedesco failed to meet a club-imposed deadline to have their future resolved.

It has been largely understood that the only other deal on the table was from the Bulldogs, adding further intrigue to the clash between the two clubs at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.

But Hasler said he still believed there would be competition from rival clubs for Woods' future.

"I think there is more out there," Hasler said.

"I think Newcastle are very lucrative as well. But we're speculating.

"That's how we create the fake news."

what rubbish........of course they are going to the Dogs..
There are 2 steps to joining another club.
1.AGREE TO TERMS
2.SIGNING THE CONTRACT.
I would say both have agreed to terms but will sign their contracts soon.
Gee all this media crap is annoying...
The fat hillbilly bogan can go ,we dont want him....Probably has to get his missus to sign his contract for him,or his flea infested dog.

The stunning stat that proves Wests Tigers are better off without the 'big four'
Adrian Proszenko
Published: April 22, 2017 - 6:36PM

Wests Tigers have bent over backwards to keep them, but this stunning stat suggests the club is better off without the "big four".

James Tedesco, Aaron Woods, Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks have taken the field together on 35 occasions since 2014. According to Champion data, the quartet have notched just 13 victories together, for a winning percentage of 37 per cent.

Tigers fans are still coming to terms with the fact they will lose three of their local juniors – Moses to Parramatta, Woods to Canterbury and Tedesco to the Roosters. However, the alarmingly low strike rate when they are all fit and available should soften the blow as the club prepares to raid the open market with a war chest approaching the $4 million mark.

A breakdown of the statistics shows the Tigers are more likely to sing the team song when only three of the quartet are available, with the winning percentage rising to 45 per cent. That figure drops to 36 per cent when only two are present, while the join-venture outfit has lost on the one occasion when just one of the "big four" were available.

Woods has the highest individual success rate of 42 per cent.

One stat that may prompt coach Ivan Cleary to grant Moses an early release is this: the team actually performs better without him, winning 60 per cent of the time when he's out injured. The figure drops to 34 per cent when he takes the field.

Cleary has plenty of money and now must work out how to best spend it. Given the turmoil that has surrounded the club in recent seasons, there are fears marquee players may demand "overs" to head to Concord. However, the Tigers could benefit if rival clubs are forced to offload talent after overestimating the salary cap figure for next year and beyond. The NRL has already warned clubs that contracts won't be registered unless they comply with the nominal figure of $8.7 million that is currently before the players' association in collective bargaining negotiations.

The Tigers have identified props Ben Matulino and Russell Packer as potential replacements for Woods. They have missed out on the signature of Gareth Widdop, who has signed a four-year extension with the Dragons, although they could be the beneficiaries of an expected fire sale of Canterbury talent.

While the Tigers are chasing big names, Jack Littlejohn is hoping they will see the value of retaining him. The playmaker has been filling in for the injured Brooks, who is attempting to prove his fitness in time for Sunday's clash with Canterbury. Littlejohn is hoping to earn a regular starting spot and a new contract before the season is out.

"I've always seen myself as a first grade player," Littlejohn said.

"I think I've been proving that over the last few weeks. It all depends on what the coach wants – if he wants me to hang around and be that player or be that back-up half. I can play anywhere on the field, so I'm happy to fill that role if they see fit.

"The halves are definitely my position, but playing hooker isn't too bad, I don't mind getting in there and mixing it with the big boys. But halves is definitely my spot."

Cleary refused Moses' requests for an early departure. If Moses was to leave it would give Littlejohn more opportunities to prove himself.

"Definitely it comes across your mind, the opportunities I'd get if he did leave," he said.

"In saying that, the best thing for the team would be if he stays because he's such a class player, there's no denying that."

The Tigers have won just two games all season and risk falling out of play-off contention with another loss to the Bulldogs.

Hooker Matt McIlwrick hasn't given up hope of playing finals football this year.

"That's football, you win two games in a row and you're near the [top] eight again," McIlwrick said.

"We're not holding our heads down, we know we're not far from that. We just have to play that consistent footy."

How do they figure this? He's only missed one game, which we won.

He played in the last 10 games of 2014 after making his debut in Round 17.
He played every game in 2015
He missed Round 9, 2016 when we beat Souths 30-22
He has played every game this year.

He's played 64 of the 65 games played by the Tigers since his debut.

Actually there's heaps of errors on the stats in that article

*Tigers are more likely to win when 3 of the 4 are available, with the winning percentage rising to 45%

8 wins from 22 games = 36.36%

*That figure drops to 36 per cent when only two are present.

2 wins from 8 games = 25%

*lost on the one occasion when just one of the "big four" were available.

At least 2 of the 4 have played in every game since Moses' debut

*Woods has the highest individual success rate of 42 per cent

Woods has won 59 of 131 games = 45.04%

*winning 60 per cent of the time when he's (Moses) out injured

He's missed one game and the Tigers won, therefore it should be 100%

Here's some stats
Most successful combo:
Tedesco & Brooks only - 1 games for 1 win
Tedesco, Moses & Woods - 6 games for 3 wins
All 4 - 35 games for 13 wins
Moses, Brooks & Woods - 11 games for 4 wins
Moses & Brooks - 3 games for 1 win
Tedesco, Moses & Brooks - 5 games for 1 win
Tedesco & Moses only - 1 game for 0 wins
Moses & Woods only - 3 games for 0 wins

When all 4 have played - 35 games, 13 wins @ 37.14%
When 3 of the 4 have played - 22 games, 8 wins @36.36%
When 2 of the 4 have played - 8 games, 2 wins @25.00%

Wests Tigers fail to learn the lessons of history

Wests Tigers should have learnt from history the folly of having their best four players come off contract at the same time. Nor should the drama of unresolved contract issues affecting team performance be new to the club, albeit a joint-venture one.

The problem is that too many people on club boards and at NRL headquarters itself believe that modern rugby league began in 1998, post the Super League war. They ignore the lessons of the past.

In 1979, Wests' semi-final campaign was derailed by whispers three of their best players – John Dorahy, Les Boyd and Ray Brown – would sign with rival clubs. As coach, I recall running laps of Lidcombe Oval before training with the players, only to notice the "big three" fall back behind the group and presumably discuss their futures.

I recall centre Wayne Smith suggesting we have a private fundraiser to retain the players, but it all seemed too difficult for a cash-strapped club to compete financially in a competition without a salary cap.

The publicity not only affected the three players, but also destabilised the rest of the playing group.

As it transpired, we lost a couple of games by field goals, made the semis, but went out the back door to ultimate grand finalists Canterbury.

All three players signed with our most bitter rival, Manly. The Silvertails, who had not made the semi-finals in '79, certainly wreaked revenge on the Fibros. Their game plan was clearly to use the Wests three to add to their playing list and subtract from ours, ensuring they made the 1980 semi-finals, while we would not.

The signings were not announced officially until well after we exited the finals.

Tom Raudonikis, captain of Wests, and I used the play-off period to try and prevent the moves. We flew to Brown's home town of Griffith to convince him to stay, but returned home uncertain of his plans.

I had dinner with Boyd at his Strathfield home. We went on a long walk while his wife, Judy, cooked dinner. He revealed Manly wanted him and we tried to quantify the loyalty factor in money terms.

Finally, we reached agreement that Manly would have to offer $40,000 for him to leave. He called me the next day to tell me Manly's offer was $39,000, but before I could let out a "whoopee", Boyd went on to say: "I told Arko [Manly's then chief, Ken Arthurson] I wanted $40,000 and he agreed."

Of course, he would: $1000 made little difference to the Silvertails' vault.

"Joe Cool" Dorahy's admission to me that he was going to Manly took a little longer. At a Wests reunion a couple of years ago, he asked me if we could have a beer in Melbourne, where I now live and he occasionally visits for work. We sat in the iconic Young and Jackson pub, talking about a range of things, including politics, where we have somewhat opposite views.

I knew there was something Joe wanted to tell me, but it seemed stuck in his throat and I had to be somewhere else.

Finally, as we sipped our last beer, Joe said, "I lied to you back in 1979 when you asked me if I had signed with Manly. It's stuck in my craw for 36 years and I just had to tell you. I loathe lying and I've felt uncomfortable ever since."

Dorahy also made another admission two weeks ago at a Wests reunion. He revealed that if he had known Tommy and Graeme "Snake" O'Grady would also leave the club, he would have stayed.

Yes, that's right. Wests lost five players at the end of the 1979 season, including inspirational captain Raudonikis and clever lock O'Grady, both to Singo's money at Newtown.

As it turned out, O'Grady rejoined me at St George, but Joe's affection for the club was so deep, he told me he would never have left if he had known that after he signed with Manly the Magpies would lose another two players.

The lessons? A club cannot let its best five players come off contract at once and it will affect team performance as much at the beginning of a season as at the end.

Oh, and if players leave, others replace them.

Wests made the 1980 preliminary final with the previously unheard of Terry Lamb, Jim Leis, Alan Neil and John Ribot, while Manly finished seventh, out of the semis.

I can't blame the club for these 3 players being absolute dogs. I like the point about if players leave others replace them.

I don't want to watch any games with these 3 traitors in our team. I do jiu-jitsu and you don't snake your team. Guys that do that are known as being snakes and a common phrase in relation to how do you deal with a snake is that you cut their heads off.

I accept that they are young and dumb but I can't respect people like that.

I also couldn't respect the way Robbie was shafted even though I think he isn't up to it any more. I also think that shafting Potter was dumb. I think one of the biggest mistakes the club made was appointing Jason Taylor as coach. He had no idea as a coach and created a culture of glorifying the 3 traitors and crucifying Robbie. He also tactically had no idea how to get this team performing.

Im currently watching the Canberra V Manly game on fox.

I think a bigger issue than the 4 is that we let Austin go to keep two of them. He is a true 5/8 and a fantastic all round footballer.

Ricky has really built a fantastic team there - with similar issues to what we have faced. And watching them play, the team really is the star.
