Reds to benefit from Stadium upgrade

Good signs that MES will undergo a $30million upgrade sometime in the next two years. The upgrade will see the capacity go from 18 to 25,000 and an extra 19 corporate suites added. This is great news and will be a great benefit to the Reds NRL bid.

The Western Force fan club are gathering a 10,000 signature petition to call for a decent rectangular stadium. The Force are very concerned as their membership is dropping dramatically with the AFL stadium being the number 1 reason for fans not attending games.

The State govt seem keen to ensure Perth has two stadiums so I can see them coughing up the $30-35mill. Main thing for the Force is corporate boxes as they are heavily backed by the business $. Main thing for the fans is to be able to see the game!

Eventually I would hope MES gets a proper upgrade but that won't happen for at least 10 years until the new AFL stadium is built and they realise that it can't cater for everyone.
