I get your point but when someone writes "resigned", the first thing that springs to my mind is that the individual has stood down (voluntarily) as opposed to the definition you provided.. but yes, it is annoying

Who is going to fill the hole left by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. If it resigned en masse how will club doctors obtain prescription drugs.

This could be a huge problem for pain management programs.
