Rogue One: A Star Wars story

I've started on Catalyst which is a prequel novel to Rogue One. it's set smack bang in the middle of the clone wars though so maybe they move it along to Rogue One/New Hope era galaxy as the book progresses.

I'm really liking it so far though!
Yeah I've bought that but not started it yet. Want to get it done before seeing Rogue One though.

From my reading so far;

Lyra Erso (Jyn's mother) has a lot more in common with Chirrut Îmwe than I would have thought in so far as being Force acolytes

AND

Jyn and Saw Gererra meet prior to the events of Rogue One

But I also didn't mean the movie finishes and voila, Leia is doing the bolt on the Tantive IV.

Apparently (this discusses the ending/timeline and how it all fits together)

Rogue One ends a whole TEN MINUTES before A New Hope starts

Also, I know it isn't Rogue One but Emilia Clarke has been cast for the first Han Solo stand alone film (apparently there is going to be a Han Solo trilogy);

That's pretty disappointing. Wish they kept it in.
It's a staple of the SW series. What happens if they stop making the episodic films? There will be no more Star Wars opening crawls ever!

I'm doing the prequels this weekend and will pick up where I left off reading Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel when I'm done. There's just too many Clone Wars/prequel era references tied in to the book. I usually only watch Eps 1 to 3 once a year and that's when a new film (starting last year) comes out.

One of these days I will get around to watching Clone Wars animated series.

I would love to have the time to rewatch the whole Clone Wars series, I'm still yet to watch season 2 of Rebels.
Stoopid work taking up all my time

I watched season 1 of Rebels and really enjoyed it. it wasn't until I read Catalyst that I found out there was a 2nd battle of Geonosis. i have to hand it to Disney, they are doing a fecking fantastic job of tying in the prequel and original trilogies thus far especially with the novels.

Thus far I have read the first 2 books of The Aftermath Trilogy. I also have Bloodlines, Heir To The Jedi and Lords of the Sith.

What I'm worried about is what they are going to come up with as "canon" between Empire and Jedi. I honestly hope that common sense prevails and they absorb Shadows Of The Empire in to the machine and cannonise it! if they can decide that grand Admiral Thrawn was worth reincarnating for Rebels and giving him his own novel then can retain, at best, the elements of SOTE (Dash Rendar/Xizor/Guri, trying to find Han) and make an aninimated series out of it!

I've only just started reading some of these Star Wars books. Lost Stars is pretty great, only just started Catalyst, and I also bought Bloodline and Lords of the Sith. Gonna keep me busy.

2 weeks to go. if i keep reading Catalyst at the rate I'm going (I'm a notoriously slow reader) i should have it finished before opening night!

I've got no problem with them using current events to tell a story. Even George Lucas said while he was making Episode 3 that it was a way of protesting the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.The Imperials in the Holy Trilogy and The First Order in the sequel trilogy are even influenced by Nazis FFS.

I don't really care about "diversity" in the cast. The way I see it if the actors play their parts, it serves the story and it makes for an enjoyable film then I don't care what their demographic is.

In "The People vs. Larry Flint", Courtney Love delivered the immortal line "People don't want their politics and their porn mixed together".

My porn and my Star Wars mixed together is another matter (though the Luke/LEia/Han threesome was a bit disturbing for obvious reasons!) but I don't want my Star Wars and my politics mixed together!

Right wing nutters wanted to boycott TFA because it had a black Stormtrooper and a Latino X-Wing Pilot and was directed by an all-powerful liberal Hollywood Jew. Plus there was a nutjob feminist who went on a YouTube rant about how she was being bombarded with ads for it all the time including on her own videos. Called it sexist and oppressive which is pretty hilarious given Rey ended up the focal point of the new trilogy.

I anticipate that someone will find a way to tie in race/creed/history when the Han Solo film comes out and it inevitabley deals with the theme of freeing Chewie from Imperial slavery.

My uncle had this to say when I posted the article to Facebook. I LOLd

I boycotted Snow White cause that bitch made all those little people dig in the mines.
Fair dinkum! The far left and far right are morons and we need to do something like the Gulgafringins did to their useless third of society in 'hitch hikers guide to the galaxy'

It's rare for me to agree with him but he's on point here!
