Surprised Maloney didnt do that to be honest. He's usually a crafty bastard like that.

I dont think his head was fully in that game. Normally he's much more aware of those tiny things.

I see it more as a cultural thing. Flanagan coaches those tactics into his team. Gallen with the drop balls in the ruck getting called as a strip, Fifita crowding the play the ball and so on. We’ve never been one to play for penalties.

It’s a stupid thing to have to do (to dive) but if you do it then the referee usually has no choice.

Sucks but rules are there for bending

It's old news now but it was confirmed an obstruction by Sutton:

Meanwhile, Sutton has admitted the bunker got a call wrong in relation to an obstruction play in the match between the Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs on Friday.

Panthers coach Anthony Griffin was critical of a decision from the bunker to award a try to Moses Mbye despite James Maloney being impeded by Will Hopoate.

Sutton said it should have been no try, however, was comfortable with the decision to disallow a try to Raiders prop Junior Paulo in the nation’s capital on Saturday.

Oh well, we got ripped off in round 3 last year too with Latrell's forward pass. Lost that one by 2 as well. Would it be crazy to hope that's our bad calls out of the way for this season? :p
