take a bit of rugby union season planing......a far inferior game but a way superior calender.
keep the 9's for a bit of fun but include as many international teams as possible.
Have a much shorter nrl season with a promotion relegation series at the end.
Then bring in the origin and rep games to be followed by Internationals.....all to be finished by mid september.

It felt a few years ago that the NRL was going to leave the ESL in the dust but fast forward a decade on their current trajectory and the NRL could still be waiting to expand with no guarantee of huge TV deals like they've experienced recently making it harder and the SuperLeague could quite possibly have two French Clubs, Two Canadian Clubs (if Perez's Montreal idea goes ahead) and the Best English Clubs with TV deals in all three countries.

Great for the game what is happening in the Northern Hemesphere but I would like to see the NRL capitalise more on their current position and not just fritter it away and leave us with the same 16 clubs in ten years' time.

Super League expansion to Paris, London and Wales was also great for the game at the time...

Sorry to be a realist but have seen this optimism before...

Rather than spend a heap on ANZ put it into the smaller stadiums. If other sports can do it why can't league. We are only talking about a handful of grounds. There is always a way.
Only one Victorian AFL team has a suburban home ground and that is Geelong... MCG has 4 teams and Etihad has 5 teams .Saves alot of upkeep on smaller suburban grounds and fans have great facilities

Rugby League and AFL in each city is completely different. Melbourne AFL teams heartland is basically along or near Punt Road.

Rugby League is spread further out and people generally support the team closest to the area they live.

In this instance we shouldn't copy AFL but tap into what our strength is.
