Nah, cowboys would be better with JT at halfback with a forward pack going like theirs.

Yes Morgan has been amazing but they’d be even money next week if JT was at 7.

Morgan is a better player than Cronk not by a landslide but marginally right now, and Cronk plays halfback for Qld. Food for thought and a good problem for the Cowboys to have next season.

It's not really a problem. They've just managed to develop his game that extra step which will benifit JT more when he comes back.

Just for the thread in general, how good is it that TMM is playing in a GF.

As I said it's a good problem to have. JT is as good a second-receiver as he is first-receiver, much like the role he has played in the Qld team. If Morgan keeps up this form into next season this is how the Cowboys and Qld should go.

Typically the player market has plenty of movement this time of year. Will be interesting to see if any of Gus Goulds comments remain factual by the end of pre-season.

Interesting that today Gus's mate Webster writes a article saying all the rumours around TMM were 100% false and he requested a release just to escape the attention.

Sounds familiar, deny a problem exists until the person involved is forced to move on just to silence the media talk.

Sadly the rumours were 100% false although turned out great for TMM.

How long is he contracted at NQL??

May struggle for game time with Morgan - Thurston cemented into the halves next year.

Would be a very handy pick up for most NRL teams.

Contracted till the end of 2019.

Thurston will probably retire end of next year. TMM will probably come off the bench and learn off him and be a starting half by 2019 season.

Exactly.

Spend and entire offseason with TMM as the halves partner to Cleary then dropped him after a few weeks when he was far from our worst performer, not just drop him but also let him shop around to find a new club. It says a lot that we would be willing to let a talent TMM walk after a few weeks of a new season. even for Griffin who loves to change things it does not make sense. I know there is the whole noble idea of us "not standing in a players way" if they have a better opportunity but I think that's bullshit, letting talented players out of the club certainly not a key value of a successful rugby league team.

AND did Griffin actually think Carty to the halves was a long term solution? There is no other reason to put him there at that point of the season after dropping tmm unless you want to run with it all year.
