The implication is that they are not legitimate third party deals. These players might be 'sponsored' by a certain company that conveniently receives a large cash injection from one of the Roosters wealthier supporter. Similar to potential of minor contractors who work on Canterbury Leagues club getting paid large contracts and subsequently sponsoring Dogs players.
It's the exact thing that Parramatta got busted for - backroom deals. And there's been rumours about plenty of clubs doing it, including Roosters. No way to prove it, unless your dumb enough to document it in a board meeting.
My only gripe is that my club is too stupid to be able to make the right connections and pull it off!
