Given his surname is actually Taupau, I assume it’s made up.

So from Telegraph I’m guessing?

Meanwhile, the prop merry-go-round in the NRL could gain momentum in the lead-up to the June 30 deadline amid talk over the futures of Manly’s Martin Taupau and Canterbury’s Aaron Woods.

Woods was expected to stay at the Bulldogs but it is understood talks over a mid-season move to Cronulla have heated up again.

Time could yet prove the enemy, with the Sharks due to travel to New Zealand early next week to play the Warriors.

The Sharks are understood to want a deal completed in time for Woods to join them on the flight to Auckland, otherwise any move may be put off until next season.

Taupau could be on the move as well, although it is understood a player swap involving Parramatta pivot Corey Norman has been put on the backburner.

The Eels are interested in Taupau and it is understood there were talks with Manly over a swap involving Norman, who is likely to be on the move at the end of the season, if not sooner.

However, sources told The Australian the move was unlikely to go ahead.

The Mole: Shaun Lane leaves Manly to join Parramatta Eels
00:50
Manly’s woes continue with talented forward Shaun Lane signing to join the Eels in 2019.

The 23-year-old Lane has been among the Sea Eagles’ most consistent performers this season, playing every game for the club.

Lane has enjoyed the best season of his career but is off contract and Manly couldn’t match the deal that the Eels offered.

The move will see lanky back-rower Lane playing for his fourth club in five years.

The South Sydney junior made his NRL debut with the Bulldogs in 2015 before stints at the Warriors and Manly in recent seasons.

Lane may leave before June 30, while ostracised halfback Jackson Hastings may also depart to England after continually being shunned.

The Sea Eagles have also already lost Darcy Lussick (Toronto Wolfpack), while veteran winger Akuila Uate (Huddersfield Giants) is also on the move.

With their salary cap problems, they are unlikely to be able to sign any ‘name’ players to replace the departing stars.”
