Should of had a 20000 crowd average by now

I have imported all the crowd averages from
http://stats.rleague.com/rl/crowds/summary.html

and put it in ms excel

the results i got were increases in crowd averages had Super league never occured compared to averages as a result of super league

On the Right is what averages would of grown to had SL never occured of which this year would be the year we broke 20000 avergaes but as a result of SL current increases in averages it will take tilll 2019 to get to that mark mean SL took the game back 15 years in development

Forgetting SL for a moment....I think all NRL clubs should be aiming for 20,000 a game.

Its hard when there is NO promotion though.


I winder if the NRL should have a Sydney match of the round ever couple of weeks at Telstra Stadium.

Shame the media hasn't. 2 weeks ago we even had some sections of the Brisbane media calling for Super League Mark II because the NRL were treating Brisbane unfairly.

And I think that's a disgrace too Razor. Pretty natural that the media always focus on the bad, though - eunfortunately. I'd just think that all the fans who call for "improvements" the strengthening of our game would stop trying to drag out crap from 7 years ago to attempt to prove a point. All that time spent making predictions could have been put towards creating a marketing strategy to help the nrl now :roll:

Like it or not, the advent of $uper League damaged the game fairly substantially. Lots of supporters of clubs like Balmain & Wests, Norths, Saints & Illawarra lost their teams forever and there is a good chance they were lost to the game for ever.

Razor is right. The same hostilities that led to the split have not been healed. As soon as someone cops what they percieve to be a raw deal they get upset and the wound is re-opened.

$uper League ended up being a farce that over-promised and under-delivered.

Those who do not know history are destined to repeat it. Let's not forget what happened so we don't have to go down that path again.

Miccle it's too easy to blame the media. They own at least 50% of the game now because of $uper League. We can always not buy the publications en masse if we don't like how they are reporting it. Attacking their revenue is the only way to get them to react in this day and age.

They have money in the Broncos, Melbourne & the Cowboys and do you really think they'd destroy a multi-million dollar investment in that way?

Regardless of anything else, those "statistics" are a bunch of nonsense -- you can't just assume the crowds would have followed the same trend if Super League hadn't happened. Who knows what would have occured if there was no SL?

although i hate what super league did

i also hate the way the nrl treats teams outside nsw

they do very very little for promotion and for juniors in wa, vic and even qld

virtually zero in nz


the nrl need to learn a lot from the afl

The problem with the NRL is that there is absolutely no promotion for games. Occasionally there is an ad on the radio, but that's about it.

I'll take the example of the Sydney Swans. For every game, there is an ad shown ad nauseum on all the TV stations. The ACT Brumbies did the same thing when I lived in Canberra, not sure if they do now. Hell, the Brumbies even had their match ads in the cinemas before a movie.

When it comes to NRL, the only ads I've seen on TV are the NRL one (That's My Team, whatever came before that etc) or the terrible amatuer and funny Canberra Raiders ads. Since coming to Sydney, I have not seen one match advertised on television. Not sure if this situation is repeated elsewhere, but we need to advertise to get people to go to the game. Whoever is responsible, be it the NRL or the clubs, need to be doing a hell of a lot more than they are now.

I don't think they were. It was in the middle of an article, on how the NRL is anti-Brisbane. In no way shape or form did it appear that, that sentence was a joke, when all the rest was serious. And it was also mentioned on radio as well, but as "might need to breakaway from the competition again", which is basically saying the same thing.
